Isabel Roloff Gets Candid About ‘Joy & Grief’ During The Holidays
Isabel Roloff is opening up about her “joy and grief” during the holiday season. While this is a happy time for many people, others are struggling. Isabel isn’t afraid to talk about her feelings and everything that’s going through her mind these days. Though she chooses to keep many things private about her newborn son, Mateo, she doesn’t shy away from sharing her own personal experiences.
This Christmas is a special one for Isabel and her husband, Jacob. Just weeks before Christmas, they welcomed their first son to the world. Amid all of the fun and festivities, Isabel is leaving some space for her grief. Read on to see what Isabel has to say during the holiday season.
Sadly, Isabel has experienced a lot of loss. Her mom and brother have both passed away, which has been very hard on Isabel. Though she has her own family and is celebrating her son’s first Christmas, things are still hard.
In a new Instagram post on Thursday, Isabel gets honest. She shared a photo of herself and her mom, who she lost to cancer a few years ago.

In her caption, she wrote:
“The holidays hold both joy and grief for so many people. Myself included. On this day in 2014, my mom had to be in the hospital for labored breathing. Her recent cancer diagnosis was grim and we didn’t have much time left. Every moment mattered. I remember being so upset that she had to be in the hospital on Christmas Eve eve. I kept my hands clamped together praying that she could come home for Christmas. That’s all I wanted.”
She calls it a “Christmas miracle” that her mom was able to be home. But amid the miracle, it was still “really hard.”
Isabel goes on to talk about her son, who was born just at the right time. She adds, “I write this as I hold my newborn son who was born around this time for no other reason, I believe, than to bring us magic just when we need it the most.”
She says, “Christmas will never be the same but it also takes on new meaning for me this year. I’m a mother now and I get to watch the world of enchantment unfold in front of me through my son’s eyes. To me, that’s nothing short of a Christmas miracle.”
