They were desperate to get their daughters, Olivia Jade and Bella Giannulli, into the University of Southern California. However, neither of the girls ever rowed in high school. The couple pleaded not guilty and claimed the payments were donations made to the college. After a lengthy trial, Loughlin and Giannulli finally pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud.
The WCTH star was hit with a $150,000 fine. She served about two months in prison. Plus, she had to complete 100 hours of community service and two years of supervised release. Meanwhile, Giannulli had to pay a $250,000 fine and had to serve five months behind bars. He had to complete 250 hours of community service and two years of supervised release.
Loughlin went to prison in October 2020. She was released in late December for good behavior. Giannulli started his prison time in November 2020. Though their prison time is over, they still have to deal with the legal fees and financial impacts of the college admissions scandal.
