‘Wendy Williams Show’ Guest Host Sherri Shepherd Gives Update On Emergency Surgery

Sherri Shepherd gave a health update after her medical emergency. She had to undergo appendicitis surgery. The fan-favorite missed her opening day hosting the talk show. Sherri is just one of the many celebrity guest hosts who ended up in the coveted purple throne.

Fans were upset to hear that she won’t be guest hosting the show this week. They also flocked to her social media platforms to share prayers and well wishes. Sherri had a health setback, which turned out to be fine. She is already back to her guest-hosting duties.

Favorite Wendy Williams Show guest host shares health update

Sherri is recovering from her emergency appendectomy. It forced her to cancel her guest-hosting gig on The Wendy Williams Show. On Monday, December 13, Sherri shared a health update on Instagram. The 54-year-old slipped into a nude curve-hugging dress that she was supposed to wear for the “opening day” of her hosting days.

Sherri’s full week of guest hosting duties was to begin on Monday and end on Friday. In the photo, Sherri paired her look with brown pointed-toe pumps and a black bra that peeked out. The former The View co-host had a big smile on her face. She appeared to be in good spirits after her surgery.

“With some alterations, this would’ve been my opening day dress (@tagsboutique) for @wendyshow but my stomach is swollen from the surgeons removing my appendix,” Sherri Shepherd wrote in the caption of the post. “I tried it on and swore I heard the dress scream ‘Bisssshhhh what do you think you’re doing!’@4kwame my stylist is frantically shopping for loose & flowing dresses right now! Saints… pray for me! Can’t wait for see you [sic]!”

The dress is held together by safety pins. But now Sherri’s stylist is helping her find looser-fitting dresses that will be much more comfortable to wear. The Wendy Williams Show Instagram account also shared a clip of Sherri just moments before she took to the stage to host Tuesday’s episode. In the video, she wore a black leather dress, which she paired with a zebra print shirt.

Sherri Shepherd is back to work

The actress rubbed her stomach before she headed back on the stage. Unfortunately, that style of dress didn’t work for hers as well. But she was glad to be back, especially when she heard the roaring crowd. The caption read, “Show your love for @SherriShepherd!!!” Fans flocked to the account to express their love for Sherri, especially how they would love for her to replace Wendy Williams.

She underwent surgery on Sunday night. On Monday, comedian Michael Rapaport replaced Sherri as the host. He reassured viewers that she “is fine.” Sherri will continue to guest host as Wendy Williams battles her health issues behind closed doors. She is dealing with the aftereffects of a breakthrough COVID-19 case and Graves’ disease.
