Never Seen ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 Clip
Henry Cavill is a genuine fan of The Witcher series. More than just a paycheck, he shows his love for the show in the Live Q & A with IGN earlier this evening. Henry Cavill, playing the witcher Geralt of Rivia, could not have been a better choice. While some actors may have chosen to lean into the tough-guy persona, Cavill’s knowledge and passion are evident. Real depth is waiting in Season 2 of The Witcher.
Cavill’s wisdom for The Witcher
Several times in the interview preceding the new clip, Henry Cavill talked about how he prepared for the role. The actor noted that he often campaigned for what he thought he should be bringing to the table with Geralt. He takes an unusual approach to preparing for this role. Cavil explained that he searched online several times to see what fans would say about the character. He also noted what fans would say about his portrayal.
Consequently, Henry wants to bring fans a witcher that not only is true to the source but is also true to his vision. Cavil noted the age of Geralt (about his early 70’s at this point in the story). He thought that this would lead Geralt to be more wise than grouchy. The frequency that the actor talked about “campaigning” for his character might suggest some creative differences when cameras aren’t rolling.
He even went as far as to say he didn’t think that a comedy character would do him justice.
The actor’s relationships on set
Freya Allan, playing the girl of destiny herself, Cirilla was met with noted high praise from Cavill without prompting. While it is usual to hear about how amazing all the cast and crew are, the charm Cavill offered in speaking about his colleagues on set was apparent.
Moreover, he offered up some hilarious moments in dealing with CGI villains in his previous work. He also had high praise for the monstrous beast he would be facing. The fan-favorite monsters have been highlighted many times in the early promotional material for Season 2. In any case, fans can hope that Henry’s praise is more than just an extension of his charm heading into Season 2.
Cavill on Geralt’s relationships
It is often rumored that witchers in their universe have their emotions stripped from them. Obviously, fans know better. Book and game fans all conjure up a much deeper image of Geralt in their head. Though he is a monster slayer, he is not devoid of emotion. Cavil suggested that Geralt would be able to recognize Ciri’s trauma in his attempts to do something about it. He was also eager to mention that there were going to be new relationship stories that neither the books nor games explored when it came to Geralt and Yennefer.
