On Monday, November 29, Jim Bob Duggar testified in an evidentiary hearing in his son Josh’s child pornography case. The trial begins on Tuesday, November 30.
As we’ve reported, Josh was arrested for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse images or child pornography. He is facing up to 20 years in jail, as well as up to $250,000 in fines. So far, Josh has pleaded not guilty and has turned down multiple plea deals.
Fans, critics, and the public hope to learn the truth about Josh’s alleged actions and arrest. The trial is beginning, so hopefully, the truth will be brought to light, and justice will be served.
Based on the nature of Josh’s alleged crimes, there may be a connection to his prior molestation scandal. As fans may recall, in May 2015, details of a 2006 police report came out. The report revealed that Josh had inappropriately touched five underage girls, including some of his sisters, when he was a teen. At the time, Josh apologized for his “wrongdoing.”
This is why Jim Bob was asked to testify in the child pornography trial.
Jim Bob Duggar ‘can’t remember’ details of his son Josh’s confession.
On Monday, Jim Bob testified on behalf of the prosecution. He took issue with the reports of Josh’s molestation. “This was something for a young man to come forward,” he said. It referred to it as a “juvenile record” and a “sealed case.”
When he was asked about the report, he said, “I can’t remember.” He also said the report was “tabloid information.”
“I’m not going to allow it, are you going to allow for that?” he asked judge Timothy L. Brooks.
“If there is [an] objection to be made, someone will make it but it won’t be you,” the judge said.
Jim Bob retold part of what had happened, sharing how Josh came to him and Michelle. He said, “We were shocked this had happened but we were thankful he came on his own and told us. He had told me that he had touched some of the girls when they were sleeping on their breasts … they didn’t wake up.”
