Astroworld Victim Rejects Travis Scott’s Funeral Funds
Travis Scott offered to pay for the Astroworld victims’ funeral costs. However, one rejected the rapper’s offer as more come victims and families come forward. One family called the rapper’s journey “painful.” He may have to pay upwards of billions in lawsuits instead.
On Friday, November 5, a crowd surge caused 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. He released a video hours after the tragedy. The 30-year-old even offered to pay for the funeral expenses for the victims and their families. However, the family of a 9-year-old rejected his offer.
Offer to pay for Astroworld victim’s funeral rejected
According to a new report, Travis Scott’s offer to pay for the victim’s funeral has been rejected. Ezra Blount was the youngest victim to die from the tragic event. Ezra denied the “Sicko Mode” rapper’s request in a letter obtained by Rolling Stone on Monday, November 29. The Blount family’s lawyer Bob Hilliard also wrote a response to the hip-hop artist.
“I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful,” Hilliard said. “He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy.”
On Wednesday, November 24, Travis reached out to Hilliard and his co-counsel Ben Crump through his lawyer Daniel Petrocelli. The star offered to pay for the Blount family’s funeral costs. In his statement, Travis claimed that he is “devastated by the tragedy.” However, he is “committed to doing his part to help the families who have suffered and begin the long process of healing.”
The Blount family was the first to reject his offer. This news comes as more families and victims come forward. The lawsuits keep piling up as the future of Astroworld is unclear. Critics feel that he shouldn’t perform ever again.
Travis Scott faced with more legal drama
Lawsuits continue to follow the entertainer. Thomas J. Henry was the latest to file a lawsuit against Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend and others involved in the event. In an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life, Henry claimed that his clients sustained injuries after the crowd surge. Some of those injuries range from bleeding and bruising to broken bones and heart attacks.
Some also filed lawsuits against Apple Music, Live Nation, NRG Stadium, and guest performer Drake. Additionally, two security guards who worked at the Astroworld concert also filed a lawsuit, claiming that they sustained injuries. Most of the victims and families have claimed gross negligence against Travis and the entertainment venue.
Travis loves having wild and insane concerts, but this one got out of control. As a result, he may end up paying billions of dollars in lawsuits. He is currently expecting his second child with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner. However, the couple hasn’t been spotted together as their relationship is reportedly crumbling.
