Jazz Jennings Admits Mental Health Issues Amid Massive Weight Gain
I Am Jazz star Jazz Jennings opened up about her mental health struggles and weight gain. She admits that she feels embarrassed by the situation. However, her story could help a lot of people. The teenager has become an advocate for mental health and the LGBTQ community.
She’s used her platform to spread awareness of these issues. The news season of the TLC show will premiere later this morning. Jazz will continue to open up about her mental health struggles, which led to her weight gain. In the Season 7 trailer, she shows off her weight gain as she reveals how much weight she gained.
Jazz Jennings talks about her mental health struggles
In the new season, Jazz Jennings starts college at Harvard. She got accepted into the prestigious school two years ago. Around that same time, her mental health started to decline. Jazz pushed off going to college until she gained control of her mental health. During that time, she gained about 100 pounds from binge-eating, which she talked about before.
“Having all this extra weight, I can’t do so many things with my body that I used to be able to do,” Jazz Jennings tells the cameras. “It makes me feel really humiliated.”
As TV Shows Ace previously reported, her family started fat-shaming her as a result. It caused her mental health to grow even worse. In one part of the trailer, her family asks her how much butter she’s going to add to her food. Jazz has talked about her struggles with food and binge eating before.
So, this shouldn’t come as a shock to her family. Whenever the young girl feels stressed, she often turns to food as a temporary fix. However, it only leads to a larger problem. In the new season, Jazz is committed to making changes in her life.
I Am Jazz star struggles with her mental health
Jazz Jennings has been on reality TV ever since she was a child. She was born a male and transitioned into a female in 2018. I Am Jazz made its premiere on TLC in 2007. As a trans rights advocate, Jazz wants to be a voice heard for others who are going through the same struggles.
She even wrote a memoir and children’s book about her life. The television personality also founded the TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation, thanks to the help of her parents. However, some people feel that her parents are to blame for her being in the spotlight. Critics think that Jazz wouldn’t have the struggles she’s dealing with if she never shared her transition on television.
She uses her social media platform to promote body confidence. However, it will be hard for her this season with her massive weight gain. I Am Jazz Season 7 premieres on Tuesday, November 30 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC. Check back with TV Shows Ace for more news on Jazz Jennings.
