Kim Kardashian is the latest to break her silence on the Astroworld tragedy. This comes after KUWTK fans criticized Kylie Jenner for her statement via her Instagram Stories. She shared that she’s praying for the families and victims. Yet, she also took to the time to defend her boyfriend.

On Friday, November 5, eight people died from a crowd surge in the mob at the two-day event. Kylie attended the music festival to show her support for her baby daddy. Her 3-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, and her sister, Kendall Jenner, were also in attendance. Security hurried them out of the VIP section as the people died in either in the ambulances or the crowd below.

Kim Kardashian first breaks silence on Instagram

On Monday, November 8, Kim Kardashian first broke her silence on Instagram. She shared a message about the tragedy that took place at the Astroworld Festival on Friday. The reality star was quiet about what happened. Before then, Kim only took to social media to wish her mother, Kris Jenner, a happy birthday.

“Absolutely heartbroken for the lives who were lost and anyone who was hurt at Astroworld,” Kim Kardashian wrote via her Instagram Stories on Monday. “Just like all of you, our family is in shock by the tragedy. We are keeping all of the victims, families, and loved ones impacted in our prayers for healing — as well as Travis who we know cares so much about his fans and is truly devastated.”

The Skims founder concluded her statement with the praying hands, broken heart, and dove emojis. In her statement, Kim made it clear that the “Sicko Mode” rapper was distraught by what happened. However, fans blame him for encouraging this type of behavior at his concerts. They also believe that he should be charged for the senseless tragedy, which could’ve been prevented.

Asks for prayers for Travis Scott

Later that day, Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to share more of her thoughts on the deaths. Once again, she made it clear that Travis need prayers and healing. Her tweet received criticism for focusing on the hip-hop artist rather than the victims and their families. However, Kim did note that she and her family are keeping them in their thoughts and prayers.

“We are keeping all of the victims, families and loved ones impacted in our prayers for healing – as well as Travis who we know, cares so much about his fans and is truly devastated. 🙏🏽💔🕊,” Kim Kardashian tweeted.

Fans flocked to her tweet to criticize her statement. They think the focus should be on the people who died, rather than the headlining act. Others argued the concertgoers need more than just prayers. Here are just some of the many comments she got:

  • “These kids need more than prayers they need therapy and bills covered.”
  • “Your tweet makes it seem like Travis is equal to the actual victims and he’s not. Whatever PR person told you to say this got it wrong. Try again.”
  • “We don’t care how Travis feels lol.”
  • He didn’t act that way when people were dying. We all saw those videos.”
  • “This is so laughable. Played for 37 minutes while people were dying and screaming for help. Yea he cares so much.”

The fans are correct. As shown in the live stream on Apple TV+, Travis continued performing for about a half-hour. He only stopped when one fan needed help and again when the paramedics arrived. The rapper could find himself in trouble since he has a history of reported injuries and mayhem at his shows.
