Carrie Ann Inaba Has A Few Words For JoJo Siwa Ahead Of Semifinals
Can you believe the Dancing With The Stars semifinals episode is next week? There are six couples left and all would love to have a spot in the finale — but it can only go to four couples. Popstar JoJo Siwa is among them.
Many people expect that JoJo and her partner Jenna Johnson will go on to win the whole competition. However, one judge has a warning for her.
JoJo Siwa may be talented, but this isn’t necessarily enough to secure the Mirrorball Trophy
The dancer with the best dance ability doesn’t always win. Remember the year Bobby Bones won? That’s exactly why Carrie Ann Inaba wants JoJo Siwa to open up and break down some of her walls to connect with audience members.
“JoJo needs to make sure that people can see an evolution, they want to see the growth on this journey,” the 53-year-old judge told HELLO! “We aren’t a professional dance competition giving people a dance contract. Dancing With The Stars is a special place because it’s about people going outside their comfort zone to try something new. This is the heart of the show. You have to put down your walls and let us in.”
Many DWTS fans are particularly critical of JoJo Siwa this year because of her dance background. The 18-year-old got her start on Dance Moms and has had an amazing dance career ever since.
The judges and many audience members felt surprised to see JoJo and Jenna in the bottom two couples on Queen Night. However, the judges voted unanimously to save the two women over The Miz and Witney Carson.
“The audience wants to get to know you so they can root for you. You have to capture the hearts of America. Because the judges’ scores are only part of what gets you through,” Carrie Ann continued.
Can the popstar kick it into gear for the semifinals?
JoJo and Jenna did pretty well during Janet Jackson Night and even managed to win the dance-off against Olivia Jade and Val Chmerkovskiy. Being in the bottom two during Queen Night seemingly lit a fire under the two women.
“Oh my gosh, you guys. What a wild night. I mean, Dancing With The Stars tonight was a roller coaster,” the 18-year-old updated fans at the time. “We were in the bottom two, but we made it another week and I’m really thankful for that. Thank you, guys, for your votes. Thank you to the judges.”
During Janet Jackson Night, JoJo and Jenna brought the heat and easily made it into the semifinals. Unfortunately, we did say goodbye to Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater and Olivia Jade and Val Chmerkovskiy.
But after all, only one couple can win DWTS. Do you think Jenna and JoJo have what it takes? Let us know in the comments what you think.
