‘RHOBH’: Lisa Rinna Headed To Court Over $1.5 Million Copyright Case
Bravo star Lisa Rinna will be heading to court after failing to reach a settlement for copyright infringement. In June, Rinna was accused of violating copyright infringement laws.
Following months of legal negotiations to settle the copyright infringement case, Rinna’s legal team was unable to reach a settlement deal and will be taking the case to the next level. Backgrid USA Inc is now seeking $1.5 million dollars in damages from the RHOBH‘s star according to Reality Blurb.
As previously reported, documents were acquired back in June that claimed that Lisa Rinna is violating federal law by infringing their copyrights by using the professional photos on her Instagram account.
Lisa Rinna Claims Innocence
“By uploading the Rinna photographs to the account, Rinna encourages her fans to “share” the photographs. Thus, causing others to also willfully infringe and multiplying the harm to Backgrid.”
The judge overseeing the case has now set a trial date beginning July 12, 2022. The case will last between two and three days. Over the past months, Rinna has claimed that Backgrid has a history of “setting up celebrities” in order to bolster their income during the pandemic.
Backgrid’s argument claims that Rinna has devalued their images by posting them to her Instagram account. They also argue that Lisa, who has 2.7 million followers has used their images to promote her own business ventures. Failure by both parties to reach a settlement will find them facing off in court.
This is not the first legal issue that has affected one of the RHOBH‘s stars this year. As fans know Season 11 has mainly focused on Erika Jayne’s recent legal issues. Jayne is currently implicated in several lawsuits involving her estranged husband Tom Girardi.
Will Bravo Feature Lisa Rinna’s Legal Issues In Season 12?
Bravo ended the RHOBH’s Season 11 Reunion with Andy Cohen putting Erika Jayne in the hot seat to answer all the tough questions she had previously been avoiding throughout the season. The questioning left castmates and fans without all the answers they were hoping to get. However, most fans feel that Bravo will continue on with Erika Jayne’s legal drama into Season 12.
Fans are also wondering if Lisa Rinna’s legal issues will also play a pivotal role in the upcoming Season 12. Most of RHOBH‘s fans agree that during Season 11 that Rinna stayed mostly in the background while Bravo set its primary focus on Erika. However, it looks as if the recent events surrounding Rinna’s life may play out in her favor.
The news of Lisa’s daughter Delilah Hamlin’s overdose along with her legal battles could push Lisa to the front of the housewives pecking order just in time for Season 12.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 12 will return to Bravo in 2022.
