John-David and Abbie Duggar are clearly living their lives differently from the rest of their famous family members. Counting On fans know that the Duggars typically start growing their families early and have many children close in age. For example, Josh and Anna Duggar have six kids (and one on the way). Jessa and Ben Seewald have four children who are about two years apart or less. This is the “norm” in the Duggar family, so it comes as a surprise that John-David and Abbie only have one child, a daughter named Gracie. She will turn two in January.

Recently, Abbie and John-David sparked pregnancy rumors with a post about how “happy” they are. But now, it seems possible that the pair isn’t actually expecting again. At least, not yet. Read on to find out why.

Could Abbie Duggar be ‘one and done?’

On Reddit, Duggar family followers are discussing the possibility that John-David and Abbie are intentionally waiting to grow their family. It’s uncommon in the Duggar family for anyone to wait longer than two years to have another child.

But John-David and Abbie have done things differently in the past, too. They got married at an older age than some of the other members of the family. They also followed different courtship rules. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they waited to expand their family or only had one child at all.

One Reddit user speculates, “I think her being older and getting a late start in this context is important. She went off and did her own thing as much as any woman in the cult can. It doesn’t seem like she was desparate for a husband at 18 and she seems to have married someone she really liked. That to me says she isn’t committed to the lifestyle of having 12 kids.”

Others share their experiences with hyperemesis gravidarum. When Abbie was pregnant, she had this condition, and she had severe morning sickness throughout the duration of her pregnancy. Fans have wondered if she will wait to have more kids so she doesn’t have to raise a toddler while feeling sick. Others think they have decided to have just one kid for this reason.

One writes, “I had HG and because of it, just had one child. It’s awful and I can’t blame her if she’s trying to space kids out.”

So, do you think that John and Abbie Duggar are “one and done?” Or do you think they’re going to take their time before adding to their family? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
