Kim Kardashian Hasn’t Given Up On Law Firm Dreams

In a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, Kim Kardashian revealed that she hasn’t given up on her dreams of becoming a lawyer. She first spoke about becoming an attorney during an interview with Vogue in April 2019.

With Vogue, she talked about her inspiration, her journey towards the goal, and the challenges along the way.

Kim Kardashian’s Alternative Route

Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian, was also an attorney, but her interest in law developed from the motive of helping people. She told Vogue, “I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”

Since Kim never completed college, she took an alternative route to be able to practice law in the future. California is one of the three states in the U.S. that allow people to take the bar exam by apprenticing with a lawyer for four years. She told that she has taken 18 hours/week out of her schedule for studying alongside lawyers Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney.

However, after one year, applicants need to qualify ‘First-Year Law Students’ Examination’, also called ‘baby bar’ to continue their studies.

During an episode of the final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it was revealed that she failed the exam. She made her first attempt in the summer of 2020 and got a score of 474, whereas a score of 560 was needed to qualify.

After her Vogue interview, a lot of people started criticizing her on social media for taking this unconventional path. She responded to trolls via her Instagram, “I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or my money that got me here, but that’s not the case. The state bar doesn’t care who you are.”

Has She Passed The Baby Bar?

However, this criticism didn’t stop her from giving another try to qualify the baby bar. Her second attempt was in November 2020 but she couldn’t pass the exam this time as well.

She made her third attempt in the summer of 2021. During the conversation with the Wall Street Journal magazine in October 2021, Kim revealed that she still hasn’t passed the exam. She acknowledged the challenges and said that she has a long way to go.

But she hasn’t given up. She said, “Hopefully one day I can start a new law firm where we can help people pro bono and hire people who were formerly incarcerated. I don’t see me floating through a yacht. I think I’ll always feel good when I’m working.”

Since Kardashian’s upcoming show on Hulu has already started filming, hopefully, we will get a closer look at Kim’s studies and her legal journey.
