‘Squid Game’: Player 001 Actor ‘Overwhelmed’ By Job Offers
The actor that played Player 001 in Netflix’s Squid Game is quickly learning of the challenges that come with the rise to fame. Turns out, the 77-year-old actor has been completely overwhelmed with job offers following his role as Player 001. Turns out, Yeong-su Oh recently opened up about his rise to fame during an appearance on a South KoreanTV show called How Do I Play.

Yeong-su Oh was a key character as Player 001
Yeong-su Oh played the role of Player 001. This was a character Netflix subscribers quickly fell in love with. He was also a key character. Player 001 was an elderly man dying of brain cancer. He explained that he decided to come to the game because he didn’t have much longer to live. If he managed to win, he could really enjoy what little time he had left.
Player 001 ends up losing in a game of marbles to Player 456. Player 456 befriended Player 001 early on in the game. He only paired up with Player 001 in the marbles game because no one wanted to be partners with an old man. Unfortunately, the players later learned that they would not be playing as a team. They would be competing against each other. Player 456 seized an opportunity to take advantage of his friend’s forgetful memory. Player 456 ended up winning and Player 001 was eliminated. Or, so we all thought.
Squid Game was his ride to fame, and he’s overwhelmed
It has been a wild ride for this 77-year-old actor. According to Yahoo News, the actor admits rising to fame has been pretty overwhelming for him. Truthfully, the world fell in love with this sweet old man. And, now? He’s getting all sorts of phone calls and messages with acting job opportunities.
“I feel like I’m floating on air. It makes me think, ‘I need to calm down, organize my thoughts, and hold myself back right now,'” the Squid Game star explained.
Yeong-su Oh admits that he’s had all sorts of people contacting him with job opportunities. He, however, doesn’t have a manager or agent. So, he’s been overwhelmed and struggling to deal with everyone who has reached out to him about job opportunities. Fortunately, the 77-year-old’s family has stepped in to help him field all of the messages.
So many people have been contacting me, and because I don’t have a manager to help me, it’s hard for me to handle the volume of calls and messages I’ve been receiving, so my daughter has been helping me.”
Taking on the role of Player 001 made the world fall in love with Yeong-su Oh. Being famous has been an adjustment for the rising star.
He continues to explain: “Things have changed quite a bit. Even when I go out to a cafe or somewhere like that, I now have to be aware of [how I appear to others]. It’s made me think, ‘Being famous is tough, too.'”
Yeong-su Oh also revealed he is open to taking an acting job overseas. But, he hasn’t been offered overseas production opportunities as of yet.
