Tom Schwartz On ‘Ugly’ Katie Maloney-Tom Sandoval Feud
Tom Schwartz addresses his wife Katie Maloney’s feud with Tom Sandoval. She made it clear that she doesn’t like the name for their new bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s. Katie feels that her husband sides with his BFF too much. She would rather that he would speak his own mind.
Katie gets in the way of their friendship and business relationship. Schwarz and Sandoval talk about the feud that almost got “ugly.” However, Katie isn’t the only one who didn’t like the name of the venue. Both the viewers and the castmates shared their dismay for the name.
Katie Maloney and Tom Sandoval have a “complicated” relationship
In a new interview, Tom Schwartz claims that Katie and Sandoval’s relationship is “complicated.” Of course, that’s not the only relationship that crumbles on Vanderpump Rules Season 9. Lala Kent and Scheana Shay put their feud aside in the first episode. As for Schwartz, he told Us Weekly that Sandoval and Katie’s feud gets “ugly” at times.
“It caused a lot of tension and probably the most tension that we’ve ever experienced in our friendship and our partnership,” Tom Sandoval said. “It really put us to the test at times. We knew this was coming so we were prepared for it, but until you’re fully in it, it blindsided me a little bit. I knew this was coming cause it’s a high-stakes venture, a very volatile industry, like, 80 percent of bars don’t make it within the first five months.”
Schwartz argued the claims that their new venture is a “money grab.” Though their new business is taking place amid the pandemic, he feels hopeful that it will turn out well. He calls it a “passion project” that Sandoval and he have worked hard on. Schwartz and Sandoval are also working on their new whiskey brand, Tom’s Good Lovin.’
Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval are in “a good spot”
Thankfully, Katie didn’t get in the way of Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval’s friendship. He admits that they’re in “a good spot” these days as they move forward with the plans of their business. The reason why they chose the name is that they want their guests to get to know them better. This name is deeply personal to them, which is why they stuck with it.
“It’s like, you’re not just getting to know our first names. You’re getting to know our last names,” Tom Schwartz explained. “What truly makes us us.”
In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Schwarz said he had a good feeling that people will come around to the name. He’s positive that it’ll happen when they “come and experience the Schwartz and Sandy’s experience.” Starting this new bar hasn’t been easy for him since he found himself in the middle of his wife and his business partner. Schwartz said he had to learn how to be a better mediator.
