‘Below Deck Med’ Season 6 Reunion: Mathew Shea Slams Captain Sandy Yawn

On Thursday, October 14, Bravo unveiled the trailer for the Below Deck Med Season 6 reunion. Captain Sandy Yawn goes head-to-head with many of her crew members. One of those includes Chef Mathew Shea, who had a rough go on the Lady Michelle. He did not hold back on his feelings about his boss.

Below Deck Mediterranean will end soon. It will be followed by the virtual reunion, which airs on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. All of the crew members — sans Lexi Wilson — reunite to talk about the charter season that’s been filled with ups and downs. Chef Mathew Shea turned out to be the most dramatic person at the reunion.

Chef Mathew Shea claims Captain Sandy Yawn is one of the “worst captains”

Bravo released the first look at the Below Deck Med Season 6 reunion. Apparently, there’s drama between Chef Mathew Shea and Captain Sandy Yawn. As fans recall, the chef had a disastrous time involving eggs in the previous season. For some reason, he couldn’t get a hold of his eggs and cook breakfast for the guests.

That’s because Mathew couldn’t move on from the previous charter season. He recalls when Captain Sandy told him that his fish had dark pieces, which she considered unacceptable. Mathew can’t seem to focus on his work when it’s not up to his boss’s standards. During the reunion, she tells him, “Your Achilles heel is your own self.”

Mathew throws shade at Sandy later on in the trailer. “Sandy’s one of the worst captains I’ve ever worked with in my 15 years on boats,” he reveals to host Andy Cohen. The crew looks on in shock. “You just don’t know when not to talk,” Captain Sandy fires back, looking upset at his revelation.

Mathew is certainly not the only crew member or yacht chef she’s had trouble with. In the previous season, she went head-to-head against former chief stew Hannah Ferrier. To this day, the two can’t still get along. Hannah claims that Sandy is competitive with her crew members.

Below Deck Med captain also goes up against Malia White

The Below Deck Mediterranean reunion trailer also shows Captain Sandy Yawn and bosun Malia White rehashing their issues. Earlier on in the season, Captain Sandy screams at Malia after she failed to report David Pascoe’s injury. At the time, she admitted that she didn’t trust her anymore.

“Did you realize you were losing Captain Sandy’s trust?” Andy Cohen asks Malia White.

Malia defended her decision and explained she didn’t want to throw her deckhand “under the bus.” However, it’s unclear how Sandy feels about her reasoning. It’s the first time in Below Deck history that Sandy and Malia argued. The two get along most of the time and are even good friends.

Below Deck Med Season 6 finale airs Monday, October 18 at 9 p.m. ET, followed by the reunion on WWHL at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.
