‘DWTS’: JoJo Siwa’s Dance Partner Injured – Are They Quitting The Show?
DWTS made history during the Season 30 premiere by having two women dance together. JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson did a quickstep to rave reviews. However, Jenna’s slip during the dance resulted in an injury. Is JoJo Siwa quitting the show or can the pair keep dancing? Keep reading for all the details.
DWTS Season 30 sees franchise first
Dancing With The Stars marks 30 seasons of dancing with the 2021 premiere. The dance competition has been airing regularly since 2005. For its landmark milestone season, the ABC show shook things up by having two females dance together.
Pop star JoJo Siwa pairs up with pro dancer Jenna Johnson as the first same-sex dance partners in the franchise’s history, at least on the U.S. version of the show.
JoJo Siwa isn’t new to dance or reality TV. She starred in Lifetime’s Dance Moms. The multi-talented starlet is also a singer and social media influencer. She came out as pansexual in early 2021.
Jenna Johnson reveals injury during dance slip-up
As mentioned Jenna and JoJo danced a fiery quickstep, earning the highest scores of the night with 29 out of 40. However, viewers (and judges) watching closing noticed that Jenna slipped in the middle of the dance.
Speaking to Page Six about the historic dance, Johnson revealed that she was actually injured during the near-fall. According to the So You Think You Can Dance alum, “My knee kind of tweaked, kind of slipped out of place, came back in.”
Yikes!
The pro took a day off practice to ice her knee. How is Jenna doing now? Are they out of the competition?
Is JoJo Siwa quitting DWTS?
Rest assured, JoJo fans! She won’t be leaving the dance floor any time soon. Jenna’s injury isn’t serious enough to leave the competition. However, she did express regret that her injury took away from the groundbreaking dance partnership.
“Obviously, I’m so disappointed because I feel like I took away from JoJo’s moments, because this was such an epic night for us, for ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ for her,” Jenna told the outlet. Despite her injury, she said there was “no way” she’s missing out on week two.
In fact, JoJo and Jenna shared clips on their respective Instagram Stories of them practicing their new routine.
The first elimination of Season 30 will happen on next week’s episode. Given her high score, it’s highly likely that JoJo is safe from elimination.
