Just How Many ‘DWTS’ Season 30 Contestants Have Dance Training?
We’ve seen a wide variety of different dancing skills since Dancing With The Stars hit our TV screens back in 2005. But just how many contestants on DWTS Season 30 have professional dance backgrounds? The answer may actually surprise you.
DWTS Season 30 has a lineup full of fierce competitors
If you’re a diehard Dancing With The Stars fan, you probably already know that the official Season 30 cast list is out. We’ll see 15 competitors showcase their dance skills for the highly coveted Mirrorball Trophy. But DWTS Season 30 has plenty of competitors that have proper dance training — about six, according to PEOPLE.

Many fans already know JoJo Siwa will be tough to beat. She appeared on our TV screens on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and Dance Moms. Since then, she’s had a handful of other television appearances and sings and dances on her YouTube channel. Although some fans don’t think it’s fair to have competitors with such a strong dance background, others are excited to see JoJo compete because she will compete with Jenna Johnson. This will be the first time Dancing With The Stars features a same-sex team on the show.
Mel C also has a pretty strong dance background from her time touring with the Spice Girls. The 47-year-old singer will reportedly dance with Gleb Savchenko and hinted the Spice Girls might reunite for a performance on DWTS Season 30.
You probably guessed that Mel C and JoJo Siwa are talented dancers. But there are a few names on the list you probably didn’t know could dance.
You might be surprised by some competitors’ dance skills
The Office fans know Melora Hardin as the neurotic Jan Levinson. But she also had a leading role in the television adaptation of Dirty Dancing. She’s also been on Broadway and learned to dance from Patrick Swayze himself when she was a child.
“I was a ballerina from when I was 5 until Patrick came to our ballet studio,” Melora told reporters. “He came and taught jazz at our school. All of us 13-year-old girls would scream. He was a wonderful teacher. Very kind.”
Melora Hardin will reportedly compete with reigning champion Artem Chigvintsev this season.
You might know Amanda Kloots from The Talk, but she’s also a former Rockette. She’s also appeared in Broadway shows and was married to Waitress star Nick Cordero before his tragic death during the pandemic last year.
Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby started in dance before becoming a well-recognized fitness trainer. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore also practices dance and has been she was a small child.
Which celebrity are you most excited about? Be sure to let us know. DWTS Season 30 kicks off on September 20. We can’t wait to see where this season goes!
