Dancing With The Stars fans are thrilled Derek Hough is returning for Season 30. He filled in for Len Goodman after the pandemic caused the senior judge to sit out the season. Fans loved him so much that producers asked him to judge again this fall. But what would it take for him to become a pro dancer again?

According to Derek, he would strongly consider it if the right partner came along.

Derek Hough could return — but it would take a very special someone to convince him

The six-time Mirrorball Trophy champion recently sat down on The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss the upcoming season. Derek revealed he’s really excited for Len Goodman to come back, but that’s not all.

He told Kelly if Celine Dion ever agreed to appear on the show, he would really want to be her partner. Celine and Derek first met when the singer performed on the Season 5 finale.

“She performed and I was walking up the stairs, holding some shoes, and she goes, ‘Derek Hough!’ I’m like, ‘Celine Dion knows my name,’” Derek reminisced. “I didn’t know what to say, so I just said, ‘I’m holding shoes.’ And she said [singing], ‘Derek Hough is holding shoes, oh yeah.’ And then she did a turn and walked away, and I was like, ‘The hell just happened?!’”

We don’t know which celebrities will appear on DWTS this year, but fans can be sure that producers have been in contact with people. In fact, rumors continue to swirl that Chris Harrison and LeAnn Rimes will compete. It’s probably safe to say Celine Dion won’t be part of this season, though. But there’s always hope for the future!

Dancing With The Stars snags several Emmy nominations ahead of Season 30

Dancing With The Stars comes back to ABC on September 20. Don’t forget to tune in and watch your favorite pros take the floor with their celebrity partners. Season 29 might have been rough, but the show actually snagged several Emmy nominations.

Derek Hough and Artem Chigvintsev are both up for Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming. Derek was nominated for his special Paso Doble performance and Artem is up for his routine to Toxic with Kaitlyn Bristowe. If you caught last season, you probably aren’t surprised.

Curious to see the Emmys? CBS will host the awards at 8 PM eastern time on September 19, just a day ahead of the DWTS Season 30 premiere.

If the show performs well at the Emmys, it could draw in several viewers.
