‘Below Deck Med’ Alex Radcliffe: I Could’ve Had A Storyline In Season 5
Alex Radcliffe opened up about Season 5 of Below Deck Med. He admitted to having huge “blowouts” with former deckhand Pete Hunziker. As fans know, Bravo fired the yachtie in the midst of the season. Pete posted a misogynistic and racist meme on social media that quickly went viral.
The network fired him on the spot. Even his scenes on the show were cut. Suddenly, fans forgot about the deckhand who resembled one of the reality stars from Jersey Shore. Alex said that he didn’t end up with a storyline because of Pete’s firing.
The two went head-to-head during that season.
Alex Radcliffe says his storyline would’ve gone different
The Below Deck Med alum opened up about his “blowouts” with Pete. Alex feels that his storyline could’ve turned out differently on the show. As fans recall, Alex often flirted with chief stew Christine “Bugsy” Drake during the crew nights out. He was also good friends with stew Jessica More, who had a boatmance with Robert Westergaard.
Alex became a fan favorite in Season 5 since he tended to stay out of the drama. Some even hoped that Alex and Bugsy would end up together. He revealed that he would’ve had a different storyline if it wasn’t for Peter’s firing. Their fights got edited out of the show.
“Honestly, if he wasn’t edited out, I really don’t know if I would have come across the same I did,” Alex said. “He was my roommate. The way I describe Pete is we all have this friend who has the biggest heart. Is super nice. But every time they talk, you bring them out, you’re like, ‘Please don’t talk.’ But he’ll do anything for you.”

He called Pete “not the brightest person” who “doesn’t think before he speaks.” During Season 5, Pete would refer to bosun Malia White and Captain Sandy Yawn as “sweetie,” which they both found insulting and condescending. Alex said that fans didn’t get to see their arguments. However, the guys are on good terms these days.
Was Pete jealous of the Below Deck Med star?
Pete allegedly didn’t like that Alex became the favorite. He was also the most lovable guy on the boat. This led to some intense fights between the two. Unfortunately, these arguments were left on the cutting room floor. Fans won’t even get to see them in a Below Deck Med rerun with never-before-seen footage.
“I could tell there was a little tension between Pete towards me because Malia liked me a lot and everyone liked me,” Alex explained. “I didn’t have drama. But I don’t know if they would have tried to show Alex and Pete drama. Me and Pete had a few blowouts. Like we were f***ing in each other’s face.”

Alex wondered how their storyline would’ve played out. He noticed that he didn’t have many confessionals and his storyline was basically getting drunk and flirting with Bugsy. Alex did create controversy when he sided with Malia and Sandy’s decision to fire Hannah Ferrier. He also didn’t say much during the Season 5 reunion because there wasn’t much to say about him or his storyline.
