Mama June Shannon Practicing ‘Self Love’ Shows Off The ‘New Me’
Mama June Shannon is a changed woman. The reality star claims she is now 17-months sober from drugs and alcohol. June reveals though some days are more challenging than others, she is continuing her journey in self-love. To aid in her celebration, June Shannon took to Instagram to reveal to her followers her new hairstyle stating, “this is the new me,” according to The Sun. Now sporting luxurious long blonde locks, the 41-year-old is the picture of health. But, it has been a long road to recovery for Shannon.
Mama June previously claims she spent $900,000 in one year during the worst of her addiction. In 2019, Shannon hit rock bottom following her arrest with boyfriend Geno Doak on possession charges in Alabama.
The From Not To Hot star lost everything she had worked so hard for over the years, including her home and family. Following her arrest, Shannon entered rehab. The Shannon family underwent hard times. During their mother’s downfall, June’s daughter Lauryn Pumpkin took in June’s youngest daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson.
June Shannon Is Taking Self Care Steps
June’s addiction tore apart her relationships with her children. Finally, the family worked out their troubled relationships. In June of 2021, Shannon reunited with all four of her daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Shannon, for the first time in six years.
Shannon reveals she is continuing to work on herself. Her past crack addiction also played havoc on her teeth. So, not only has she updated her hairstyle, but she has also undergone extensive dental work. June adds she now has $40,000 worth of veneers to repair the damage. While June reveals she is slowly getting her life together, she admits she feels lucky to have avoided jail. On the WeTV finale of Mama June: Road to Redemption, Mama June happily tells her daughters, Alana Thompson and Lauryn Shannon about not going to jail.
Family Time At Last
“The judge wasn’t taking no s**t. But I’m not going to jail! I told y’all Mama June was not going to jail!”
She then explained: “When you turn your life around, people see that and want to be positivity and give you another chance.” June Shannon is not going punishment-free though, she was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. As for Geno, things do not appear as bright. He claims he is facing up to five years in prison, adding that he feels “very concerned” about the prospect of going to jail.
So what’s next for June Shannon and her daughters? In July, Shannon gave her fans an update on Instagram, saying she believes that she and the girls would be back for Season 6. However, WeTV has neither officially confirmed nor denied those rumors. Mama June Shannon tells fans not to worry because “we’re not going anywhere.” She hinted she and the girls have a couple of things in the works.
