However, it’s common knowledge for most reality stars not to speak with production or break the fourth wall. Hannah joked that she broke that wall about every year on the show. As fans know, she loved to give the camera a funny expression. She could never hold back on what she was thinking or feeling.

How Hannah Ferrier broke Bravo’s fourth wall

Hannah Ferrier revealed how she broke the fourth wall on her podcast, “Dear Diary, You’re Effed.” She brought along Below Deck Med Season 5 fan-favorite Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran. The two reflected back on their season together. Hannah shared that she would sing “Happy Birthday” to her favorite cameraman every season.

“The fourth wall when it comes to Below Deck is very, very strict,” the Aussie explained. “Like you’re not even supposed to say like, ‘Good morning.’ Or ‘Bye’ or nothing to camera and audio.”

Still, that didn’t stop Hannah from remembering the camera guy’s birthday. There was one who worked with her on every season. She recalled him wearing birthday shorts on his special day. Whenever he filmed Hannah, she would sing “Happy Birthday” and he would jokingly yell, “Hannah! Fourth wall!”

Even Chef Kiko admitted that he would talk to one of the camera guys. He didn’t let the fourth wall stop them from getting to know one another. During his intense season, he became comfortable with a cameraman who filmed him in the galley. After his firing, the two ended up becoming good friends.

Hannah Ferrier often had panic attacks while working in the stressful yachting industry. She has been open and honest about her struggles with anxiety. Despite the fourth wall rules, the Below Deck Med producers would stop filming to ensure that she was okay. Hannah previously shared a photo of producer Nadine Rajabi trying to comfort her when she suffered from a panic attack on the show.

“The reality of filming Below Deck!” Hannah captioned the Instagram Story. “Production trying to feed me when I have anxiety and I’m not eating.”

She was not the only person who broke the Bravo fourth wall. Fans feel that accolade should go to Denise Richards, who smashed it during Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. During the cast’s Italian trip, she uttered the famous words, “Bravo, Bravo, Bravo f***ing Bravo.” She asked the production team not to film the scene where the cast talked about her alleged tryst with Brandi Glanville.
