‘Bachelorette’ Fans Debate Blake’s NSFW Painting: Black Canvas Or ABC Censor?
Bachelorette viewers got an eyeful during the July 19th episode. Or, they would have if Blake Moynes’ painting hadn’t been blacked out. Did Blake paint a black canvas to show his unclear feelings for Katie Thurston? Or did he, as fans suspect, paint a dirty picture that ABC censored? Keep reading as we present the evidence to get to the bottom of the hotly debated subject.
Bachelorette Suitors Get Down and Dirty in Art Class
The latest episode of The Bachelorette had another group date. Justin, Andrew, Blake, and Michael A. were all the group date. Brendan’s name was on the date card, but after a confrontation with Katie, he was sent packing.
For the date, the men had to paint their feelings for Katie. Andrew drew a painting of sushi to represent their “foodie” connection. The self-professed artist of the group, Justin, painted stick figures representing the future he sees with Katie.
However, one suitor couldn’t quite pin down his feelings for Katie, so he went for more… primal… representation.
Blake Moynes Can’t Get in Touch With His Feelings
Blake Moynes hopes for a future with Katie Thurston, but he’s not there yet. During his rehashing of the date, he admitted to struggling with what to paint. Early on in the episode, a glance at his painting revealed an all-black canvas. It looks as if he painted over his original painting.
However, when he showed Katie and the other men, they all cracked up. So, clearly there was something on the canvas. But viewers couldn’t see it.
Black Paint or Black Censor Square? Fans Debate
As the painting segment aired, fans took to social media to debate why Blake’s was black. Some viewers thought that the three-time Bachelorette contestant painted it black.
However, other viewers saw the black as ABC censoring the painting.
So, I’m thinking @BlakeMoynes’ canvas was really sexual, and they blacked it all out, based on the reactions. #TheBachelorette

Who is right? Both!
In the following image, you can see that the canvas is painted black. However, there is also a black censor square superimposed on the painting.
Viewers Petition to See Full Painting, Blake Teases Maybe ‘One Day’
Will the painting ever see the light of day? According to Blake Moynes, it is possible. After a tweet asking for a glimpse at the uncensored version, Blake teased, “One day, I promise.”

In another tweet, Bachelor Nation executive Robert Mills teases the painting reveal with Blake’s permission. Blake responded that he’s game, for the right time, place, and charity.
A fan-created petition to view the uncensored painting has amassed almost 800 signatures.
Michael A. Gets the Censor Treatment With NSFW Sculpture
Blake Moynes wasn’t the only “artist” to have their work censored. Instead of painting, Michael A. constructed a mini-sculpture for Katie. The sculpture was meant to depict a rear end, possibly Katie’s. However, ABC censors deemed the sculpture too racy and blocked out the NSFW part.
