Viewers looking for some late-night jokes on March 13 were sorely disappointed. NBC’s long-running comedy show Saturday Night Live didn’t air a new episode. Why not and when can SNL fans expect a new episode?

Nick Jonas Hosted Last Live Episode of SNL

The coronavirus pandemic forced Season 45 of the beloved sketch show Saturday Night Live to end live audience shows in March of last year. However, the show continued with virtual “At Home” episodes through the season finale in May. When the October new season premiere date rolled around, NYC was still under strict lockdown.

So how did SNL manage a live audience for the Season 46 premiere? At the time, Deadline reported that the audience members were named de facto employees, earning $150 a pop. The studio also required negative coronavirus tests.

Season 46 of the popular late-night show saw guest hosts such as Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Timothee Chalamet. Bridgerton break-out star Rege-Jean Page hosted on February 20th. The show was the second-to-last before the traditional spring break.

Nick Jonas took on double duty as the host and musical guest on the last live show, airing February 27th.

His brother and Jonas Brothers bandmate, Kevin Jonas, showed up as a surprise guest. However, Nick Jonas sang solo during his stint as the musical act. He debuted his new song “This Is Heaven” from his Spaceman album.

When Does the Next New Episode Air?

March 20 ushers in the first day of spring. Unfortunately, it does not bring a new episode of SNL. The next live episode will air on Saturday, March 27th. Maya Rudolph will return to her old stomping grounds at Studio 8H. She was a cast member from 2000 to 2007.

Since her departure, she’s made numerous returns as guest host. She’s also played Vice President Kamala Harris since Season 45.

MEAWW Entertainment reports that Jack Harlow will appear as the musical guest for Episode 15. He will likely perform his hit song “WHATS POPPIN” from his album Thats What They All Say.

How to Watch SNL

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC. The next new episode from Season 46 will air on Saturday, March 27. MEAWW reports that fans can also watch on “streaming apps Sling TV, FuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV and AT&T TV Now.”

SNL is also available on nbc.com and the Peacock streaming app. Additionally, all 46 seasons of the comedy show are now on Peacock.
