Bethenny Frankel Angers Fans For Her Comments About Meghan Markle
Bethenny Frankel never holds back on her feelings. Over the weekend, The Real Housewives of New York alum addressed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. What she had to say angered fans of the couple. Bethenny did not hold back on her feelings.
In fact, she said she doesn’t feel bad for the couple. Especially since they live a life of privilege. She doesn’t buy that Meghan became a victim of the media. She wanted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to know that she’s not on their team.
Bethenny felt that they should have lived a private life rather than having a tell-all interview with Oprah.
Bethenny Frankel rips into the royals
On Sunday, March 7, just hours before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview, Bethenny Frankel let it all out. That morning, the Bravo star ripped into the royals. She shared her honest feelings with her 1.5 million followers on Twitter. And she didn’t care if they didn’t like it or not.
“Cry me a river…the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, w tiaras & 7 figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w [Oprah] on speed dial, fetching 7 m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals. #MARRY,” Bethenny tweeted.

One fan suggested that the RHONY alum should give Prince Harry a break. Then, Bethenny clarified her previous comment.
“I 100% give Harry a break,” Bethenny responded. However, she felt that an interview isn’t the best way to “generate less press & cannot be filed under the guise of wanting privacy to prevent a repeat of previous events.” She even likened it to her reality TV career. Bethenny said she chose that path “to work towards making $, to be scrutinized & criticized.”
She allowed herself to “take the trappings & beatings along with it.” According to the television personality, it comes with the price of fame. She also argued that most “beg to enter the toxic institution I signed up for.” Bethenny claims that she “chose” the life and others “can’t play stupid & smart.”
RHONY alum gets major backlash
Bethenny Frankel ignited a heated debate on Twitter. Some fans were ready to cancel the stars. Most of them expressed their frustration against the reality star. One argued that a “white woman” should not be an “expert in being the first bipoc to ever be part of the British royal family.” But another applauded Bethenny for saying what Brits were thinking.
Did Bethenny change her tune?
Regardless, Bethenny Frankel got roasted for her comment. The Skinnygirl founder got plenty of comments. Shortly after the interview aired, Bethenny changed her tune. She even admitted her own shortcoming and issued an apology to the couple.
“I watched M & H sit down. Emotional distress & racism must feel suffocating & powerless,” Bethenny tweeted. “I’m a polarizing, unfiltered(often to a fault)flawed person w a voice. When I heard of the interview, during a pandemic, it felt like a surprising choice. I’m sorry if it hurt or offended you.”

But some fans don’t buy Bethenny’s apology. One called her a white woman “with privilege that gets to say things that are offensive.” Others think it’s just her way of saying that she still stands by what she says. Though Bethenny apologized, it may be too little, too late.
