Netflix’s ‘A California Christmas’ Stars ‘GH’ Star Josh Swickard, Wife, Lauren Swickard
Netflix has just released the sweet Christmas romcom you have been looking for. On Tuesday, they dropped A California Christmas, starring real life married couple Josh (General Hospital) and Lauren (Twisted Twin) Swickard. What do we know about the Swickard’s joint effort?
What Is A California Christmas About?
According to the Netflix preview, A California Christmas is about Joseph (Josh), who heads to a California ranch. He pretends to be a farm hand, but he really is a business man who needs to do a very difficult job. He has to convince Callie (Lauren) that she needs to sell her California farm.
As Joseph gets to know Callie, he starts to change. Has love changed him? So instead of doing that very job that will gain him a promotion, he finds himself staying on far longer than ever expected. He just never wants to leave. That is, until she finds out the truth.
Lauren Swickard Wrote A California Christmas Screenplay
Josh and Lauren met in 2017 on the set of Roped, which is currently on Netflix. Of course, General Hospital fans know Josh Swickard as Detective Harrison Chase. Not only did IRL couple Josh and Lauren Swickard star in A California Christmas, but they were involved in many other ways. According to Soap Opera News, Lauren wrote the script during quarantine. She did that in about two weeks. Josh is a co-producer, but gives his wife all the credit. This is really her project.
Then came filming. A California Christmas was filmed in beautiful Petaluma, California. They worked six days a week, and completed filming in less than three weeks. Getting news that Netflix was picking it up was just icing on the cake! They really made the most out of their time.

Netflix Has Cornucopia Of New Christmas Movies
In addition to A California Christmas, Netflix has added a lot of holiday content for 2020. In fact, they have dropped 30 new holiday movies, special and festive series. These include new programming and some old favorites. There is bound to be something for everyone.
Firstly, there is Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square. This movie stars Christine Baranski and Treat Williams, in a dramatic movie that includes 14 new Dolly Parton songs.
Next is Holidate. This stars Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey as a couple of singletons who don’t want to attend holiday gatherings alone. They agree to be each other’s “holidate.” But, what if a convenient arrangement becomes something more serious?
One very well received Christmas movie is Operation Christmas Drop. Based on a real Air Force project of the same name, this romcom takes place in Guam, on a military base. Kat plays a woman out to advance her career by cutting funding for this special project. Instead, she discovers how valuable this program is and maybe finds a her true love.
Lastly, Vanessa Hudgens is back for The Princess Switch 2. Hudgens is not playing one role, but three this time around. And yes, there will be a Princess Switch 3. But, will there be A California Christmas 2? That remains to be seen.
