Gwen Stefani Doesn’t Want COVID To Take Center Stage At Wedding
Gwen Stefani shared her wedding plans with Blake Shelton. The couple finally got engaged. The No Doubt singer had to wait until the Catholic Church annulled her previous marriage to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Their engagement was a long time coming.
And now the couple is busy planning for their wedding. Gwen is “so excited” to be engaged to Blake Shelton. However, like many engaged couples, their wedding plans are up in the air due to the coronavirus pandemic. She doesn’t want COVID to be the focal point at their wedding.
The “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” singer would rather wait until the time is right.
Gwen Stefani talks about wedding planning
The 51-year-old shared her wedding plans during an On Air with Ryan Seacrest interview on Monday, December 7. Gwen Stefani gushed about Blake Shelton. She admitted that they are “meant to be” together. She’s still going through the initial shock of their engagement.
“It’s so funny to even say ‘engaged.’ It feels so weird,” Gwen admitted. “People have been saying it for so long, like five years, ‘Are you getting married? Are you engaged?’ And now we are actually are and it feels like I’m in a cartoon or something.”
The singer just released her new song “Let Me Reintroduce Myself,” her first non-holiday song and pop song since 2016’s This Is What the Truth Feels Like. Seacrest asked her if she prefers a smaller or larger wedding in a “post-pandemic world.” Gwen said that all that matters is that her parents are there to see her marry the love of her life.
“I would say I just want my parents are there at this point,” Gwen explained. “My parents wouldn’t come to Thanksgiving because they’re so scared so really would rather it not be a COVID situation. Like, I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing.”

Gwen and Blake don’t want to marry in a pandemic world. They want all of their loved ones there to celebrate their special day. The “Used to Love You” singer admitted that they can’t quite cut down their guest list.
“Even when you cut it down to just family, it’s just too many people for COVID so we’re going to see what happens in the next few months,” Gwen said.
The details on their engagement
Blake Shelton proposed to Gwen Stefani at his ranch in Oklahoma. It’s the very place where the couple spent lockdown with Gwen’s three children, Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, who she shares with her ex-husband. Blake and Gwen announced their engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, October 27.
On Sunday, December 6, an insider told People that the duo feels “ready to get married.” They fell in love on the set of The Voice in 2015. They hope to walk down the aisle someday soon. Gwen and Blake don’t want to wait anymore. The source echoed Gwen’s statements that they hope to say “I do” soon.

“This won’t be a long engagement. There is a reason why Blake proposed now. They are both ready to get married,” the source said. “They don’t want a huge wedding.”
Another source told People that Blake asked Gwen’s three sons for permission before he proposed. He loves them so much, he cares about their input. And it seems like Gwen’s sons get along with the country crooner. As for the proposal, it came as a surprise to her.
