‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Reboot? Charlie Hunnam Shares His Thoughts
Would FX every consider a Sons of Anarchy reboot? As those who love the FX drama know, it has been over a decade since we saw Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller on our screens. But, he has a new film coming out. And, it has fans of the 40-year-old actor thinking about his time on Sons of Anarchy.
Charlie Hunnam reflects on the FX series.
Charlie Hunnam sat down with People Magazine to chat before the release of his new film, Jungleland. He reflected on his time as Jax Teller of Sons of Anarchy. He considers his role in the FX series to be the real breakout moment for his career.
Well, frankly, it gave me a career. And it gave me the ability to have confidence that I was going to be able to make [acting] work as a lifelong career.”
Charlie starred in the series alongside Katey Sagal, Tommy Flanagan, and Ron Perlman. He considers the series to be the foundation for his successful career.
Sons of Anarchy reboot possibility?
Sons of Anarchy had a nice run for seven seasons from 2008 to 2014. Even though it has been just shy of six years since it aired its final episode… Some fans can’t help but wonder if a Sons of Anarchy reboot could be a thing. With shows like Prison Break, Dexter, and Full House being rebooted after years of being off the air… It is never a stretch for fans to want more of their favorite TV shows.
A reboot happening for a show such as Sons of Anarchy requires a few things. For starters, FX would need to know people actually want to see this reboot. It wouldn’t make sense for a network to bring back a series no one wants to see more of. Next, the core cast would need to be onboard. After all, rebooting a show such as Sons of Anarchy just isn’t going to happen if the core cast is interested. No one wants to see a reboot with a ton of fresh faces. They want the originals.
Is Charlie interested in reviving Jax Teller?
Now, Charlie Hunnam would make or break a Sons of Anarchy reboot. After all, would anyone watch a reboot of the FX drama without Jax Teller? Probably not. Fortunately, People Magazine did ask the actor if he would consider reviving his role to reboot the series. Unfortunately, fans may not like his response. Why? Well, it doesn’t seem like he’s too interested in a reboot.
I would never, ever put that cut back on. I would never put his rings back on. Not even for Halloween. It was a very deep experience. I lived with that character inside me for years, like, in a very real way. In a way that manifested in ways that I could never even [have] imagined. He’s dead now. So there would be no ever bringing him back … When he died, he died.”
Regrettably, it doesn’t sound like a Sons of Anarchy reboot is in our future. But, it does sound like Charlie Hunnam is grateful for the time he spent as part of the cast of the FX drama.
