‘Below Deck Med’ Fan Gets Trolled For His Captain Sandy Tattoo
Below Deck Med Season 5 is the toughest season yet. It was difficult for the crew members to film. And it’s even difficult for the viewers to watch. Most of them threatened to boycott the show after Hannah Ferrier’s firing.
According to fans, Captain Sandy Yawn is the villain of the season. They didn’t like it when she fired both Chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran and chief stew Hannah Ferrier. She’s also gotten major heat for her bizarre Cameo video about bosun Malia White.
Fans even refer to her as “Capt Lurk” on social media. So, if anyone admits to being a fan of Captain Sandy, they’re in for a rude awakening.
Captain Sandy fan gets trolled
The Below Deck Med star took to Instagram to a repost a tattoo that a fan showed her. On Saturday, October 10, Captain Sandy posted a photo of the tattoo, which read, “So today, I challenge you to take a look inside, choose a destination, take that first step, be flexible enough to alter course according to life’s circumstances, be fearless, wake up, show up, kick a**, repeat.”
The Bravo star said this quote before. The fan told Sandy that he’s a “huge fan” of hers and had to get this quote tattooed “because 2020 sucks.” Sandy praised the fan’s “inspiring” and “incredible” message. She was clearly touched by his tribute.
“Thank you @paul_scugnizz_napulitan_ for inspiring me to keep doing what I’m doing! Thank you so much!” Sandy wrote in the caption.
However, not all fans find the message inspiring. They trolled the fan for considering Sandy a role model. Here are some of the comments:
- “Yeah, I’m sure he won’t regret that one.”
- “Today we learned that Paul is a clown.”
- “Good quote bad font lol.”
- “brb while I get ‘June June Hannah’ tattooed on me.”
- “He’s gonna regret that in 10-20 years.”
- “I like the quote it is inspiring but I don’t think I would have tattooed the yacht or her name.”
One of Sandy’s followers took note of the negative comments. They defended the sea captain, writing, “Can people just play nice! Dang, regardless of any of our views. This is a fan that admires Captain Sandy and is reaching out to her to share. Very nice gesture as a fan!” Sandy responded to the follower with the red heart emoji.

Why Below Deck Med is the “most brutal season yet”
Captain Sandy sat down for an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair. She addressed Season 5 and why it was so hard on her. This season has everything from firings to maritime laws and shaky boatmances.
“I have to admit, this season’s been pretty hard on me,” Sandy said. “For me, the last thing I want to do is fire anybody. That’s never been a thing for me. Probably in all the years, I’ve worked on boats, maybe I’ve vired seven to 10 people.”

Despite the highs and lows, Sandy loves the yachting industry. She can’t imagine herself doing anything else. Still, Sandy remains on Below Deck Med, even with all that happens.
“I love to invest in people. I don’t have an agenda other than to be the very best I can, every time I step on a vessel,” Sandy explained. “I love Below Deck. I like Bravo as a whole…it feels like I’m investing in something that’s bigger than me.”
Below Deck Med airs Monday night, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
