Why ‘DWTS’ Fans Want Nev Schulman Off The Show
Nev Schulman became an unexpected frontrunner on Dancing With the Stars. No one would have ever thought that the guy from Catfish: The TV Show could dance. If Nev makes it through the show, he could end up winning the coveted Mirrorball. But there are some fans who want Nev off the show.
They haven’t forgotten about his past. Fans have dug up his past allegations and are begging people not to vote for him. This comes after the MTV star had everyone standing up and cheering for him during “Disney Night.” He did the Argentino Tango that had everyone dancing in their seats.
DWTS fans want him out for this reason
Nev Schulman has received a lot of praise on Dancing With the Stars Season 29. He quickly became the underdog of the season. On Monday night, Nev and his partner Jenna Johnson performed to the song “Angelica” from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The reality star impressed the judges with his fancy footwork.
His dancing impressed the audience as well. But some fans couldn’t forget Nev’s past. He was kicked out of college for punching a girl in the face. Nev even admitted to the incident in his 2014 book, In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age.

As per Vulture, he was thrown out of Sarah Lawrence College, a dance school, for punching out a woman he didn’t recognize because she had a “short, stocky, crew-cut-styled.” Fans dug up the excerpts from his book and urged others not to vote for him. Here are just some of the comments:
- “Not mentioned at all in his intros, but Nev has a dance background so he’s not this season’s magical unicorn #DWTS.”
- “Nev tried to downplay his dance experience saying he was in ‘just a little dance group’ or whatever he said when he, in reality, studied dance at a pretty legit dance school before he got kicked out for punching a girl in the face do with that what you will.”
- “Nev also beat up a girl? Yeah, cut the cameras I can’t support him either anyways vote for Anne instead #DWTS.”
Nev Schulman gets major backlash
The backlash could stem from how casually he mentioned the 2006 incident. He seemed to downplay it. Instead of owning up to it, Nev took issue with how everything went down.
“I found myself in a very unpleasant situation, much like a dog with a choke collar,” Nev Schulman wrote in his book. “In an effort to free myself, I punched the person and ran off; when I returned minutes later, I discovered that the short, stocky, crew-cut-styled individual that I’d fought with was a woman — a fact I hadn’t been aware of in the heat of the moment. The next thing I knew, I’d been arrested.”
Nev also appeared unapologetic. While the case was dismissed, his school thrown him out. Nev even admitted it was “no big deal” even though that moment “crushed” his mom.

Other past allegations swirl
Back in 2018, Nev Schulman also has other allegations against him. Ayisha Morgan, who appeared in Catfish in 2015, alleged that he was “inappropriate” with her on set of the show. Production of the MTV show was halted for over a month while an investigation was conducted.
However, there was no evidence to support Ayisha’s claims. Additionally, Nev denied the allegations. At the time, he issued a statement to his Catfish fans, saying:
“The behavior described in this video did not happen. I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth.”
However, fans haven’t forgotten about these moments in Nev’s life. They’re still calling Dancing With the Stars producers to kick him off the show. Others are calling for other fans not to vote for him. It’ll be interesting to see if he makes it through to the end of Season 29.
