‘Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love’ Crowns Celebrations of Love with Genuine Blessings

Bride & Prejudice

This week, Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love culminated its first run on Lifetime with pledges of lasting love for two of the three couples in the Australian-borrowed reality show.  One pair part ways since still being officially married certainly makes things sticky.  In the process of putting their devotion to the test, the Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love pairs pushed themselves to limits they never dreamed possible to earn family approval.

In the April 29 episode, “Forever Hold Your Peace,” Pastor Calvin Roberson expressed how proud he was of each couple for their honesty and taking the steps they felt most needed in their relationships.  Two betrothed couples pledged forever, with endearing results, while one potential bride said goodbye on Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love.

Willi and Cameron share a wonderful engagement gathering on ‘Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love’

Since Cameron only officially proposed to Willi in last week’s episode, he and Willie opted for a full-on engagement party to share their pledge of love.  The bride and groom-to-be were both a little concerned as their guests began arriving, and Willi’s folks, Michael and Leah were a little more than fashionably late.

The wait was totally worth it, though, as the in-laws came in with grandmother in-tow, and the night only got better from there.  It was impossible to hold back the tears of joy when the beaming lovebirds announced their engagement, with Willi flashing her specially-designed heirloom ring.

“I have my ring,” she exclaimed, “but more than that, I have the man of my life!”   Her newfound confidence was only part of the reward of their efforts.

Michael gives the best wedding gift

Michael walked forward, taking the microphone from Cameron. “That’s your first mistake,” the future father-in-law spoke, “giving me the microphone.”  He followed with heartfelt words to Cameron’s father. He noted all the heart-to-heart talks that he and Cameron had held during the past weeks on Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love, and how he had seen his daughter and soon son-in-law talk and grow “as a couple” more than in all the previous years together.

“You have every reason to be d@m* proud of this boy.  I know I am.”  He then gave a toast with “L’Chaim!” (To life!).  Michael also pulled Cameron aside and embraced him, letting him know that he had fully earned his blessing.  The father-in-law and then watched as Willi and Cameron took her grandmother to a private table, seeking her blessing, which she happily gave.

“It hasn’t been easy, but my dad was right all along,” Willi credited her father for prodding the pair to take on the difficult topics before marriage.  The festivities only became more and more loving, and after a very difficult Married at First Sight season that was even painful to watch, this Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love party was a pure delight.

‘Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love’ sees Kee Kee get real with her mom

After four years together, and basically living life as a family unit, Kareem was unprepared and crushed to hear Kee Kee tell Pastor Cal that the meltdown dispute had completely altered her mindset on marriage.  There would be no marriage at all.  When Kareem met with Chris and Cameron, he still held out hope that the relationship would “be all right” and that this painful interlude was only “a bump in the road.”   “That’s a big bump!” Chris confirmed.

Kee Kee still had to confront the truth with her mom, Ms. Marvalene, who drove all the way from Huntsville, AL again to hear very unwelcome news.  The daughter first disclosed that there would be no wedding for her and Kareem.  Marvalene was surprised by the decision, but not disappointed.   The rough roadblock came when Kee Kee explained that she was never legally divorced from Geoffrey’s biological father.

Mom’s no-judgment zone

“I thought you divorced his a**” Marvalene asserted. Kee Kee explained that she tried several times, but that since her ex’s whereabouts are unknown, it was costing her all her money.  Mom was none too happy, letting her daughter know that she had been living in adultery.  Heavy covered the uncomfortable moment. Kee Kee left to regain her composure, expecting that word.  She also related that feeling judged made her afraid to talk with her mother about many problems.  Marvalene tenderly embraced her daughter, assuring her that while she will always speak the truth, Kee Kee is never being judged.  Hopefully, a solid bridge of communication has been started now in the process of Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love.

Toward the close of the episode, Kareem breaks the news to his mother, Tia.  This Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love experience didn’t and blissfully or the way anyone expected, but still mainly to better future lives for Kee Kee and Kareem.

Blair and Chris celebrate a beautiful ‘Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love’ wedding in their own style and get a blessing, too.

Much to her credit, Kee Kee showed up to help Blair choose her wedding dress, along with Willi.  White just isn’t the color for this horror movie producer-bride.  She found a beautiful black lace gown. The minute she walked out of the dressing room, Blair was a vision of loveliness.

The Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love bride was more than a bundle of nerves by the time she was on the way to the wedding venue with her dad.  She was in major anxiety attack mode going through the door. Her dad helped her to breathe and remember that this was her dream day with Chris.  Chris, his father, and groomsmen were assembled and ready, too. It was impossible not to notice the empty chairs at the front.  Kelly was not there.

Blair and Chris both looked stunning, and the bride’s eyes absolutely twinkled as she looked into her husband’s waiting eyes.  With the perfect flair for the dramatic, Kelly and her husband walked the aisle to their seats.  She wore a glitzy lavender suit that no one could miss.  Blair’s relief was palpable.  Every guest held his or her peace, and Blair pronounced a joyful “Good!”

Kelly gives more than a toast

Kelly had one more surprise for the newlyweds after their vows.  She pulled out a small notebook, brushing away her tears, and gushed about her love for her daughter as “life’s greatest gift.”  She also praised the “joy, laughter, and security” that Chris brought to Blair’s life.  She openly gave her heart, words, and blessing in front of everyone present and with the  Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love cameras rolling.

“That was really beautiful,” Chris told his mother-in-law as all three embraced.

“I love Chris,” she also assured Blair privately. This was great to hear.

The final camera shot was Kelly, Blair, and Chris all joined in a hug.  The sweetie Pomeranian, Gizmo even got his own close-up!

This finale of  Bride & Prejudice: Forbidden Love proved to be so uplifting and truly tackled important issues.  Let’s hope the series soon returns to Lifetime to help other couples come to peaceful terms with family. Go Pastor Cal!
