‘Shameless’ Season 11 Production Delayed By Coronavirus
Shameless Season 11 production has been delayed thanks to the spread of the coronavirus across the U.S. Unfortunately, fans of the Showtime hit series can only assume this means the Season 11 premiere date will also be pushed back.
Shameless joins the growing list of coronavirus pandemic production delays.
Production of Shameless Season 11 should have started several days ago.
Emma Kenney (who plays the role of Debbie Gallagher) took to Instagram three days ago to break the news.
“We were supposed to start production on our 11th and final season today, but unfortunately/ fortunately, we have been shut down indefinitely until this health crisis is over.”
When the production of Season 11 of Shameless will pick back up is unclear. Some fans speculate it won’t happen till the weather warms up.
Debbie shared a throwback photo of herself and some of her cast members. She added that she was really missing her Gallagher family.

She concluded her announcement by encouraging Shameless fans to binge the first 9 seasons which were available on Netflix.
“stay safe and isolated everyone!”
The throwback photo in the Instagram post featured Emma Kenney, Noel Fisher, Cameron Monaghan, and Ethan Cutkosky. The cast enjoyed cups of coffee as they tried to keep warm.
How did Shameless fans of the Showtime hit series feel about the announcement?
Fans liked the throwback photo and announcement over 218,000 times. It also accumulated just shy of 1,500 comments. This was significantly more comments than Emma Kenney’s Instagram posts typically net.
Unsurprisingly, Shameless fans weren’t too thrilled to learn production has been delayed. In fact, here’s what some fans had to say about the news:
- “I’m not ready for y’all to be officially over that’s gonna be the real pandemic 😩😿”
- “Aw man, stay safe”
- “who tryna find corona and beat her up”
- “Hope everything will be alright, can’t wait for the new season! Stay safe💘”
- “Stay safe. They said this should end by summer.❤️ hope you and your dogs are good. And the rest of the cast is as well.”
Fortunately, there wasn’t any backlash in the comments of the post. Fans were understanding and wished the cast well. Many, however, questioned the Netflix release date for Season 10 of Shameless. If Netflix and Showtime the lead of several other streaming services… Could they release it early and give fans something to binge?
Shameless Season 11 does not have a premiere date as of yet. Fans assume this will push the schedule back.
