Derek Peth Feels the Love While Bachelor Nation Is Feeling Unloved Towards Producers Agenda
Demi Burnett is now officially a Los Angeles resident. The Bachelorette star left her native Texas and headed to California on Sunday, she revealed on Twitter. This is where her girlfriend Kristian Haggerty (the one who she as been in a relationship with since before Paradise started taping) calls home. You can count on Demi and Kristian being in the DWTS audience cheering Hannah B on.
Shame on the Producers for Disregarding all the rules to suit their own agenda
The Bachelor franchise wanted to have the most historic LGBT first on reality television. But unfortunately, they may have gone about accomplishing this by doing it all wrong. Prior to coming to film Bachelor in Paradise, Demi was in a relationship with Kristian Haggarty. They were not exclusive and she supposedly came to Paradise to figure out what she really wants. Demi did have some fun with Derek in the hot tub but is not going to find true love with Derek or any other BIP contestants. The producers arranged for her girlfriend Kristian to join her on the show. This is just the second time that someone outside of the show joined it. The other instance was when Ashley I was accompanied by her sister.
Reality Steve shares his thoughts
Reality Steve eloquently sums it up:
It’s such a hard topic to talk about, because the second you say something negative, immediately people start thinking you’re bashing the LGBTQ community and what not. That couldn’t be further from the truth. From the second you first heard of this Demi storyline here on this site back on June 18th, you’ve known my feelings. I have zero issue with Demi and Kristian being in a relationship. Good for them. Hell, after watching them last night it’s pretty clear they’re really into each other. My issue is with how it was explained on the show, how Chris Harrison tried to pretend he had no idea about Kristian till Demi told him, how Chris then proceeds to say shit like “Well, I’m here to do what’s best for you” like he went and called up Kristian on his own and brought her down to the show because Demi missed her, to Demi pretending like she didn’t know this was all happening. Just all too phony to me.
As Steve explained, if this was a guy who wanted their girlfriend to come on nobody would be okay with it. What people aren’t happy about is that they changed the rules for them.
TV Shows Ace reported earlier this week on Demi’s previous same-sex relationship.

Are rules meant to be broken?
Host (and talking head) Chris Harrison explained to Hollywood Reporter why those behind the show felt it was OK to break the rules for Demi on BIP:
“We could have easily said that because Demi is in somewhat of a relationship back home that she won’t find love here and we should send her home and go on our way. Instead, we all made the decision to break or bend the rules a little bit. And the good news is, there is no rulebook. I always say that to contestants and producers. We have no rules and can essentially do what we want with the show as long as we’re treating everybody fairly and with respect. It was a pretty easy but big decision to go down that path with Demi, especially since it’s with someone who is outside of our franchise and our family.”
Derek Peth Comes Out Smelling Like a Rose In All of This
Derek Peth appears devastated, but he’s mature and gracious about Demi’s decision. “If this is what makes you happy, you’re making the right decision,” he tells her, noting that he wants to speak with Kristian before she joins them in Paradise. The three of them sit down, and even though Derek is clearly hurt, he recognizes that he and Kristian have something strong in common: mutual love and admiration for Demi. “It’s bittersweet to meet you, I guess,” he tells Kristian. “There’s no animosity between us,” Derek tells Demi. “It’s just hard. … It’s hard to give something up when you’ve had that feeling of what something could be.”
Derek May Have Just Shot Peter The Pilot’s Chances Of Being The Next Bachelor Out of the Sky
Fans are so impressed with how Derek handled the news that many of them called for him to be the next Bachelor. We haven’t seen him shed this many tears since he was sent home by Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher.
One fan posted on social media: “@BachelorABC I have found your next bachelor…@PethDerek! He’s handsome, sweet, loyal…and been royally screwed on this show multiple times. He deserves a happy ending!! #DerekForBachelor.”
“And here we have our next #TheBachelor Derek, who is level headed, emotionally intelligent, sensitive, sweet, and understanding,” Kristina Schulman tweeted. “Raise your hand to cast your vote #BachelorInParadise.”
Evan Bass tweeted: “The only justice for Derek that will make me happy is #DerekForBachelor #BachelorinParadise.”
Entertainment Tonight Laura Zima correspondent (who is dating Chris Harrison) wrote on Twitter, “But do we deserve him as #thebachelor?”
