Once upon a time, Donald J. Trump was a frequent guest on The View. However, once he was elected in 2016 over Hilary Clinton, his relationship with the ABC show and its host soured. The hosts have been speaking out against his policies for years, especially since his second term began in 2025.

Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert’s late-night shows also found themselves in the crosshairs of the President. However, The View is the only one currently under investigation by the FCC. Despite the threat of the show’s cancellation, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg refuse to let President Trump silence them.

The View Under Investigation

The View host Alyssa Farah Griffin recently slipped up on live television and announced the death of President Trump’s son, Don. Jr. The former White House staffer quickly apologized for the error. The mistake likely won’t be part of the FCC’s investigation into the talk show.

The Federal Communications Commission launched an investigation into The View in February after Democratic Texas State Representative James Talarico, who is running for Senate, was a guest on the show. His appearance may have violated the FCC’s “equal time” rule. The widely ignored rule stipulates that talk shows have to give equal time to all political parties. There is an exception for a “bona fide news program.”

That is the basis of the investigation. Is The View a “bona fide” news show or is it a talk show? The FCC’s stance is that the ABC program is a talk show because of the host’s lack of a journalism background. However, the “equal time” rule hasn’t been enforced in decades.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr was appointed by President Trump. The Chairman has vowed to take an aggressive stance against networks that break the “equal time” rule and other regulations.

Joy Behar & Whoopi Goldberg Refuse To Be Silenced By Trump

Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg are staunch critics of President Trump. They’re also both longtime hosts at The View. While Whoopi Goldberg has been careful not to break certain broadcasting rules amid the FCC investigation, it hasn’t stopped her from bashing President Trump. And it won’t.

A source told The Globe that Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar refuse to be silenced. “Neither of them is backing down from airing their fiery opinions or saying what’s really on their minds and that’s why they can at least count on job security amid all this scrutiny from the government,” the insider said.

Unlike CBS, which canceled Stephen Colbert’s show after alleged pressure from the President, ABC and Disney are standing firm. “The bosses at Disney have kept supporting the broadcast during this turbulent time when it might have been easier just to cut the whole thing loose,” the source said.

The View has been a staple of ABC’s daytime schedule since 1997. Now in its 29th season, the show continues to bring in high ratings. Tell us in the comments if you think the hosts should tone it down until the FCC investigation is done.
