Probst was born in Wichita, Kansas, and was raised in Bellevue, Washington. One of his frist jobs was working as a narrator and producer for Boeing Motion Picture Studio’s videos.

In 2012, Probst was also the host of his own namesake show, The Jeff Probst Show. However, it only lasted a season due to low ratings.
Over the years, Probst has also become known for appearing as himself in various television series. This has even included scripted shows, such as How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men. He also notably voiced himself in an episode of Family Guy.

In addition, Probst has occasionally worked as an actor. Notably, he served as the voice of Raycliff in a few episodes of the children animated series Fillmore!
Probst has occasionally worked behind the scenes as well. Notably, in 2001, he wrote and directed Finder’s Fee, which starred Ryan Reynolds. In 2014, he also directed Kiss Me.
Probst has also written a few books. He wrote Stranded, which detailed events working on the Survivor series. He also partnered with Scholastic for a series of children’s books, the first of which was also titled Stranded.
In his personal life, Probst was married to Shelley Wright from 1996 to 2001. In 2011, he later married Lisa Ann Russell. He is the stepfather to her two children from her previous marriage to actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar. The couple share custody of the children with Gosselaar and his spouse.
