Coronavirus Has ‘The Bachelorette’ Up In The Air, While Producers Eye New Format For Filming
The coronavirus pandemic is putting a huge damper on filming for all Bachelor shows. There seems to be no end in sight for the virus, however, planning for Clare Crawley’s season is still ongoing. Bachelorette production is doing what they can to try and find a way for Clare to film while still being safe. Keep reading to find out what the scoop is on possibly getting to continue the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
Can Clare’s season of The Bachelorette still continue?
TV Guide recapped that Clare’s season was originally scheduled to begin filming March 13. If it would have begun to film then it would have had a May 18 premiere date. With the ongoing world crisis, that will not happen. Host Chris Harrison has acknowledged that he has no clue when production can actually resume. With that said, production is looking into other ways to film Clare’s season.
One option they are looking into renting out an entire resort at a currently unknown location. The entire cast of The Bachelorette will stay at this resort. Everything would take place here from introductions to final rose ceremony. There would no exotic trips or dates, not even hometowns would be able to happen. And, with the new reality of COVID-19, all contestants will be tested for coronavirus prior to entering the resort.
According to Reality Steve, if this happens, The Bachelorette would be filmed somewhere around July or August. It would film over five weeks and possibly premiere in September.

What we know now
Chris has said that once it’s safe to do so, Clare’s season will be top priority. He said, “Maybe we do it all this summer, but if things don’t go as planned with this virus and with this quarantine, maybe we won’t have time to do it all. So we have to think, ‘OK what is our priority?’ It’s trying to create any content in the interim, and then let’s get The Bachelorette.”
Chris also said that many of the men who were cast will not be available when filming is allowed to resume. Therefore, casting is still active and they are searching for more contestants. Clare has said that everyone’s health is the most important thing. When her season is ready to film, she will be ready. She went on to say she’s waited 38 years for this moment so she can wait a little longer.
