The Los Angeles fires are destroying people’s homes and lives in California right now. There are 25 people confirmed dead, and it is expected that number will rise. However, when Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes spoke about this on their Amy and T.J. podcast, they seemed almost disrespectful about how they approached the topic.

Here is what the two said and why fans are lashing out at them about their “disrespectful” comments.

Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Criticize News Reporter During L.A. Fires

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes used to work for ABC News. However, they were fired in 2023 when the news station realized they were dating. They now have a podcast called the Amy and T.J. podcast, where they talk about their personal lives and also cover significant news and a few trending stories.

Nothing is bigger right now than the L.A. wildfires, so they took some time to discuss them in their most recent episode. One of their former co-workers was on the scene during the horrific fires and was covering them for ABC News World News Tonight.

However, instead of talking about the wildfires and the loss of lives, Amy and T.J. Decided they wanted to talk about David Muir and the jacket he wore in the broadcast. According to T.J., they talked about it ahead of time and then decided that they should talk about David’s “choice of jacket and how he was wearing it.”

Here is the problem. They named the podcast episode: “Does This Fire Make Me Look Fat?”

Fans Lash Out At Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes

The entire idea that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes made the title of their episode a joke based on the fire that is destroying so many people’s lives rubbed fans the wrong way.

Now, Amy tried to paint David in a good light, saying he would jump on a plane to cover these stories “in the best way possible.” At the moment, they said it looked like he “cinched his jacket as many of us have done in the field,” thanks to high winds.

However, T.J. said people were ripping on him for using the clothespin for “vanity” purposes. Despite this, fans felt the duo was mocking the fires by making jokes about a person’s appearance while reporting on the devastation (via TikTok).

  • “Not a nice thing to say. These people are dealing with immense loss.”
  • “This is what you’re reporting on? Shameful.”
  • “California is burning and you’re worried about clothespins! Absolutely ridiculous.”
  • “For posts like this, give it more context. The post after this makes the intention clear but still poor timing. Please learn from this.”
