My 600-Lb Life: Abi Ruiz’s Weight Loss Journey

Abi’s weight gain began after he suffered from an accident, which led him to get paralyzed. The My 600-Lb Life star became bedridden for years, resulting in his unhealthy lifestyle. It came to a point where he developed bed sores and lymphedema. Even going to Dr. Now was a huge challenge for him. Due to this, Dr. Now himself visited him in his apartment.

Despite all the obstacles, Abi showed dedication to losing weight. He eventually qualified for bariatric surgery and dropped 325 pounds. His last reported weight was 403 lbs, which is an incredible feat considering his condition.

What Happened To Abi?

Abi continues to thrive in his weight loss journey. In March 2024, he underwent surgery and was looking so healthy as he shared a fun moment with his puppies. His wife, Brenda Ruiz, didn’t exactly share what the operation was for. But some fans think it’s related to his mobility.

Abi Ruiz has also been in touch with the fans on Instagram. Last October, the My 600-Lb Life star uploaded a stunning photo with his wife as he celebrated a huge milestone on his physical journey. According to Abi, he finally got out of the house to vote. He captioned, “It’s our duty and responsibility. Every voice counts. Let’s make ours heard, Texas!”

Abi has also been sharing his workout routines over the past few months. He continues to defy his paralysis and has been thankful for the people who have been part of his journey. He took to Instagram last August to share a clip of himself going all out at the gym. He captioned, “Grateful beyond words for this amazing PT and OT team! Thanks to #rehabwithoutwalls , I’m reaching new heights every day. Watch out world—nothing’s holding me back now!” The My 600-Lb Life star has yet to share his current weight. But many of his clips and photos today indicate that he’s now somewhere around 300 pounds.
