‘WCTH’ S12: Everything Chris McNally Revealed About Lucas’s New Love Interest
For months, Hearties have been waiting for more information on Governor Lucas Bouchard’s love interest ever since Chris McNally hinted that his character might have a romance in WCTH Season 12. Here is everything Chris has said about this new love interest, including some details he shared at the Hallmark Christmas Experience.

What Has WCTH Star Chris McNally Said About His Character’s Possible New Love Interest?
Ever since Elizabeth left Lucas at the train station, Hearties have been waiting for the Governor to find love. That may happen in WCTH Season 12. Early on, McNally shared that this relationship starts out cantankerous. While there were sparks, he was not sure if this was a love interest.
Then, in December, at the Hallmark Christmas Experience panel, the WCTH Instagram page shared a video of Chris talking more about this mystery woman. In the clip, it is clear that the Holiday Crashers star was asked about a possible love interest. He started, “I will say that someone comes into Hope Valley this season, that is a pioneer in her own right, paving the way, as a woman of that particular era. And, she is able to challenge Lucas mentally. There’s some sparring that happens.”
He continued, “I don’t want to give too much away about the trajectory of the season, but I think it’s nice for Lucas, for the first time in a while, find someone who intrigues him because of intellect and strength.” Then there was laughter. The camera goes to Erin. She responds, “I did play a schoolteacher.” The audience had a good laugh.
Chris certainly got a good chuckle from this.

What Has Hallmark Revealed About Lucas Bouchard’s New Love Interest?
Chris McNally is not the only one to discuss Lucas Bouchard’s possible WCTH Season 12 love interest. Hallmark has also shared some information. TV Line asked the network for some clues to this new romance. They revealed this woman is “a lawyer who has inherited her uncle’s cattle ranch near Hope Valley butts heads with Lucas over community policy. And then throughout the season, we’ll see a friendship develop–and possibly some sparks.”
Hearties can already figure out what the “community property” is. The When Calls The Heart Season 12, Episode 2 preview has already shown Edie Martell, portrayed by Miranda MacDougall, show up at Governor Bouchard’s office. She is introduced as coming from The Cattleman’s Association. The clip shows the attorney telling Lucas, “I think there may be a problem with your National Park.” Lucas looked none too pleased.
