‘Young And The Restless’ Head Writer’s Shocking Spoilers 2025
A new year has just started for The Young and the Restless. One of the soap’s executive producers and head writers has recently teased fans with what to expect in the upcoming year. Some clues suggest shocking things are in store for Genoa City.
Head Writer Josh Griffith Looked Back At 2024
Josh Griffith is a writer who has had a prominent career in soap operas. He has served on shows like Santa Barbara, One Life to Live, As the World Turns, and Days of Our Lives.
Griffith first joined The Young and the Restless as a breakdown writer and creative consultant back in 2006. He became a head writer for the soap in 2012, eventually returning to the position in 2018.
In a recent conversation with TV Insider, Griffith talked about some highlights over what happened in Genoa City over the past year. In addition, he also teased fans with what to expect during the upcoming year.
When it comes to 2024, Griffith liked that the series managed to “reestablish the Phyllis/Sharon battle dynamic.” On the other hand, he also appreciated Nikki and John’s friendship being “rekindled,” while concerning her alcoholism. As he noted, ““Him helping her out, especially that wonderful two-hander episode that we did in the in the hotel room [in May] with Peter and Melody, just knocked it out of the park.”
Griffith also talked about how the story of Heather Stevens’ murder helped him reach a goal as a writer. As he noted, “With the whole arc of Heather’s murder and Sharon’s belief that she was guilty and all the people that were affected, I felt like I got to tell my Hitchcock movie finally.”
In addition to “new directions and new twists,” Griffith also praised the “killer performance by Sharon Case.” He also noted, “The return of Ray Wise and Colleen Zenk was a real plus for me.”
However, Griffith also looked ahead to the upcoming year. As he shared, “It will be even better than 2024. It will be a whirlpool of romance, suspense, and family conflict.”
Griffith Talked About An Upcoming Love Story & Mystery
The writer teased a love story inspired by Shakespeare. As he noted, “Claire and Kyle are going to have to fight the fact that Victor doesn’t want them together and Jack is worried that they shouldn’t be together because of what Victor might pull.”
Meanwhile, he teased that Summer could consider wanting to take Kyle back. In fact, the love story could impact a variety of characters. He noted, “As we build this powerful Romeo and Juliet story, they will all be affected — Nikki, Victoria, Victor — and Nick will be heavily involved in the next arc of this Ian fallout for Sharon.”

Griffith also noted one upcoming cast member could bring about a larger story. He shared, “Nathan Owens, who’s fantastic, is just the first step in a major, evolving mystery for the entire Winters family.”
“It will have major impact on Nate, on Devon, and especially on Lily… We’re going to find out that maybe Audra has some more skeletons in the closet as well as we get into this mystery.”
Griffith already highlighted the return of Ian Ward and Jordan Howard to the soap. He also teased that fans still have a lot to expect from them.
Griffith noted, “We’re headed for a wild ride and a massive showdown between this diabolical duo and the Newmans. Look for major showdowns between Nikki and Jordan and Victor and Ian.”
