‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Call New Champion ‘Improbable’ & ‘Lucky’
Fans are not all happy about the latest champion on Jeopardy! While she has won seven games in a row, one of the best runs of the entire season, many fans have decided that she is lucky and her win streak is improbable. Despite that, she has one of the biggest winning streaks this year.
Here is a look at the new champion and what fans are saying about her winning streak.
Jeopardy! Champion Called ‘Lucky’
The latest Jeopardy! champion has won seven games in a row. After a season where only five players hit the five-win mark, Laura Faddah finally broke the rough patch and has pulled off seven wins in a row. This puts her behind only Adriana Harmeyer (15) and Isaac Hirsch (9).
However, unlike those two champions, who won a ton of money with their winning streaks, Laura hasn’t even broken $100,000 yet in her seven wins. As a result, many fans are calling the winning streak “improbable” and “lucky.”
Here is a look at what some of the fans have said about the champion (via The U.S. Sun):
- “Laura’s run as champion is a great example of what has made the show popular over all these decades. A regular person who, through a combination of smarts and some luck, has gone on an improbably long run where we can’t wait to see what happens next.”
- “Laura continues to impress. She’s caught some lucky breaks along the way, but you can’t put together a 6-game win streak solely on luck.”
- “Laura is getting better. She’s had some luck along the way to the ToC, for sure, but today’s win was her largest prize yet.”
As they said, Laura was lucky with many of her wins, but it seems she is getting more confident and stronger as the winning streak rolls on. However, she has a long wait before she gets to continue it, as the post-season starts this week.
Jeopardy! Tournament Of Champions Starting Up
It seems that Laura’s Jeopardy! win might have come too late. She has seven wins, but the show had already named its ToC byes. Adriana Harmeyer (15), Isaac Hirsch (9), and Drew Basile (7) are all getting byes into the semifinals. Looking at the tournament tracker, Laura’s name isn’t even on it.
After Basile, there are only four other players that show five wins (automatic qualifiers). The producers also already said there will be a runner-up from the Second Chance Tournament getting into this year’s ToC. That means that, despite her winning streak, Laura might not get into this year’s ToC and will be an automatic entry into next year’s event.
Things could change, but she is not listed on the main Jeopardy! site.
