A Promo Was Released On The Days Of Our Lives Instagram Page

Earlier this year, Days of Our Lives endured the loss of actor Bill Hayes. Notably, he played the character of Doug WIlliams on the soap since 1970. The character continued to appear on the series well until July 2024, six months after the actor’s passing.

This would notably mark the series’ first Christmas without Hayes since his passing. A few promos have already been released promising what to expect.

The Days of Our Lives Instagram page shared a video promoting the Christmas episode. As the caption read, “Next week on [Days of Our Lives]: Celebrate love, laughter, and the timeless Horton tradition. Christmas feels like home.”

As Michael Fairman TV shared, the family’s ornaments previously went missing after the Horton burned down. However, they were eventually recovered, allowing the tradition to continue in some form.

Viewers Might Already Know Who’s Playing Santa Claus This Year

The publication also shared some spoilers of upcoming episodes, giving fans some hints on what to expect. A spoiler for the Wednesday, December 25th episode read: “It’s Christmas Eve in Salem, Julie questions Doug III. Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey enjoy the Christmas festivities, and Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly (Ashley Puzemis) share an intimate moment.”

A spoiler was also given for the following episode. It read, “It’s Christmas Day in Salem. Eli (Lamon Archey), Lani (Sal Stowers), Abe (James Reynolds), and Paulina (Jackée Harry) celebrate the twins’ birthday. Ava (Tamara Braun) asks Steve (Stephen Nichols) for help and Marlena (Deidre Hall) confides in Brady (Eric Martsolf) how much she’s missing John (the late Drake Hogestyn).”

The publication also noted that Lani and Eli, with their children, Jules and Carver, will keep the kids at University Hospital company. James Reynolds’ Abe Carver is also expected to play Santa Claus.

Fans are especially concerned how Susan Seaforth Hayes, who was married to Hayes in real life and on the show, will fare hanging ornaments on the tree. As previously reported, the series also recently allowed Seaforth Hayes to give a tribute to Doug’s character on the show, which incorporated elements of Bill Hayes’ real-life eulogy.
