‘GMA’ Lara Spencer Reveals Major Surgeries Amid Lingering Injury
Good Morning America co-anchor, Lara Spencer will be spending the holidays a little differently this year. She opens up about details of the major surgeries she underwent.
Lara Spencer Is One Tough Lady
Seemingly, Good Morning America host, Lara Spencer is starting a holiday tradition no one wants to have. After years of pain, she went under the knife to correct a college injury. Notably, many fans have noticed she was absent this week on the show. Now, she is revealing details about major surgeries she underwent for lingering injuries.
Furthermore, some fans may recall that GMA host Lara Spencer isn’t new to pain. Notably, she had foot surgery in recent years. At the beginning of 2023, Lara showed she was laid up with a new “Christmas” boot. She joked it wasn’t what she was hoping to get for Christmas, but it came with “some shiny new wheels.” At that time, her right foot was operated on for a torn plantar plate and ligament. Sadly, the injury was “slowly getting worse and worse.” While she was hopeful to have relief, it wasn’t lasting.
Unfortunately, history is repeating itself for Lara. She is entering this holiday season with two feet up. On Instagram, Lara shows off two bandaged feet that she will be nursing through this holiday season.

Then, Lara Spencer let GMA fans know she is “okay” but trying to get comfortable after going under the knife. Undoubtedly, she upped the ante by undergoing double foot surgery this round. She captions: “If I look a little groggy it’s thanks to this guy who just gave me a new pair of boots (frame 2-wish they were cowboy boots but that will come in about 6 weeks hopefully).” She added a photo of her doctor and the aftermath of both legs raised for recovery.
While showing off her two new bandaged feet with styling mismatched boots, she let fans know details about the surgery. Then, Lara adds, “My right foot was easy – just had the plate removed from surgery last year.” But foot number two was more tricky.
Grateful For Options
However, the process was more difficult on the left foot. Lara Spencer continues, “The left is a bigger deal from a very old college diving injury.” Lara Spencer, 55, has had a lingering pain since her competitive diving years in college. She explains, “I was doing a reverse one and a half and hit the board, shattering toes and joints.” At that time, medically Lara didn’t have many options. She says, “Back then they said there was nothing you could do except tape it, let it heal, and live with the pain.” Now, after many years of pushing through the discomfort, Lara Spencer is planning on having newfound relief. She adds, “Today there are much better options, thanks to surgeons like Dr Marty O’Malley at HSS. These boots were made for walkin……”
