Viewers of the series have become familiar with “Browntown.” Rather than a literal town, it refers to the sit the Brown family lived off the grid in Alaska. Hosting various homes, according to Market Realist, it was located around 14 miles southwest away from Hoonah.

However, while the show presents itself as genuine, many viewers have wondered just how accurate the series was. Recently, one family member, Bear Brown, recently shared a photo on social media to address these claims.

Bear Even Addressed Some Claims In The Comments

In the post, Bear shared an image of a tree house he claims his family once lived in. As he captioned it, “My tree house in Browntown, while we still lived there!”

In the caption, Bear addressed rumors of the show exaggerating the family’s lifestyle. As he wrote, “To the people who said we stayed in hostels, nah we lived in paradise! Browntown was my favorite place we’ve lived and I miss it!”

Taking to the comments, many fans were impressed by the photos. As one fan wrote, “Browntown was so cool to watch you all set up.”

Bear himself also replied to a few of the comments. One user wrote, “It was built by the locals for a set to film the show then taken down.” Bear himself responded to this, saying, “False! And it still stands.”
