‘MBFFL’ Whitney Way Thore Shares Details Of Sad Day Barb Died
Whitney Way Thore’s mother Babs was a fan-favorite among My Big Fat Fabulous Life viewers. Sadly, Babs passed away on December 7, 2022, after battling a prolonged illness.
It’s been two years since her passing, but her friends, family, and fans never forgot her. On the anniversary of Babs’ death, Whitney honored her mother and shared details about the tragic day.
Whitney Way Thore Kept Fans Updated On Babs’ Condition
For years, the Thores rallied around the family matriarch as she battled health conditions, including strokes. They knew Babs’ time on earth was limited, but they showered her with love and care in her final days.
Fans also asked for updates about Babs. Many felt like they really knew her after watching her on MBFFL.
“My mom had cerebral amyloid angiopathy, which is an untreatable progressive condition caused by proteins in the blood vessels of the brain that can cause dementia, seizures, or like in my mom’s case, brain bleeding (hemorrhagic strokes),” Whitney explained on Instagram back in 2022. “When mom had her first stroke in 2017, we were told of this and we knew that more strokes would eventually be inevitable. Mom’s second stroke was December 28, 2021 and her last was November 13, 2022.”

As of December 7, 2024, the Thores have spent two years without Babs. They sorely feel her absence, but they keep her memory alive in their hearts forever.
“Two years ago my dad and my brother and I held my mommy as she died — at 10:32pm, which is the same time I was born. My mother has been my greatest gift in life and she was magic. I am so grateful to be made from her. 🖤” Whitney penned an emotional tribute to her mother on Instagram.
She included several photos from Babs’ youth, including a stunning modeling photo. There were also several photos of Babs enjoying time with her family.
