‘Today’ Several People Want To Join Jenna Bush Hager
After Hoda Kotb revealed she was leaving Today, NBC finally announced that Craig Melvin would replace her as one of the main hosts. However, this is not for the part of the show featuring Jenna Bush Hager. That part of the show will now feature a rotating cast of people, as NBC looks for Hoda’s permanent replacement.
It also sounds like several people are vying for this position, including some familiar faces. Here is a look at who wants to join Jenna on Today.
Who Wants To Join Jenna Bush Hager On Today?
While Hoda Kotb is leaving Today, NBC feels that Jenna Bush Hager is an asset they don’t want to lose. As a result, the company is doing everything it can to keep her. This includes renaming her part of the show Today with Jenna & Friends. Instead of having Craig Melvin replace Hoda, Jenna will have a rotating cast of co-hosts.
This is one way to ensure they find someone the network and Jenna feel comfortable with to replace Hoda permanently. “They want Jenna to stick around long term and to have a cohost that she enjoys working with, so they’re going to give her a lot of say in who they hire,” an insider said (via Closer Weekly).
They will then have several people lined up to sit beside her and see who has the best chemistry with the host. Names that have been thrown around include Willie Geist, Michelle Buteau, Justin Sylvester, and Michelle Collins. The “chemistry” and “ratings” are the determining factors.
Jenna is sad to see Hoda go, but she is looking forward to this new opportunity as well. “Here’s the thing, Hoda, you know this, I’m a serial monogamist, I met Henry Hager 20 years ago and that was it,” Hager said. “I haven’t dated in 20 years, I met Hoda, I fell so madly in love with you quickly, and we’ve had these years together which have been some of the best in my entire life.”
Jenna Bush Hager Also Has Other Projects Coming Up
In addition to her role on Today, Jenna Bush Hager has other projects in the works, including a wellness project that has her very excited.
Jenna said she was considering leaving NBC before Hoda Kotb announced her departure. She is definitely sticking around now but still has big plans for her side gig. “I have something that I am super excited about that’s in its infancy,” she said (via People). “It’s a whole wellness situation, and I got lit up by that just from stuff I’ve been working on and doing on myself.”
