‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Fans Stand Up For Tammy Slaton
1000-Lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton hasn’t always been the most popular cast member with fans. But after turning her life around and sincerely working toward her wellness goals, viewers love watching her succeed.
In recent episodes, Tammy has been fighting with her siblings, primarily Amy and Amanda. After scolding Amy’s gross behavior, some fans thought Tammy was behaving a bit holier-than-thou.
One Of Tammy Slaton’s Fans Defends Her Actions Online
Without a doubt, Tammy Slaton is one of the most complicated figures on TLC. She has her fair share of loyal followers, but some 1000-Lb Sisters viewers aren’t willing to move past her poor behavior from previous seasons.
“Unpopular opinion,” a 1000-Lb Sisters viewer shared on Reddit. “I’m probably going to get backlash from this post and that’s okay. But I hate the lack of compassion people have for Tammy. I see this conversation in this subreddit a lot where people will talk about their upbringing and how they interact with each other yet, people tend to sh*t on Tammy the most.”
The OP acknowledged that Tammy often has plenty of crude moments of her own. However, they felt that Amanda and Tammy displayed many of the same mannerisms onscreen. But for some reason, many 1000-Lb Sisters viewers praise Amanda while simultaneously dragging Tammy down.
“I might be in the minority but, genuinely I have always felt bad for Tammy just based on how the mom interacted with them in like the first or second episode in the first season. While we can hold Tammy accountable for her actions and reactions, we also should do that across the board with each sibling,” the OP concluded their post.
1000-Lb Sisters Viewers Had Mixed Responses
Naturally, the post sparked a wide range of varying opinions. Many Redditors also felt bad for Tammy, but acknowledged her bad behavior and poor decision-making played a detrimental role in her life.
Other comments included:
- “Clearly the whole family has issues, but Amy and Tammy in particular are severely emotionally immature.”
- “I don’t hate Tammy, and she’s definitely got mental issues, but at a certain point she needs to take responsibility for herself. Shutting down at adult conversations and threatening to run away from home when things don’t to her way is toddler behavior that she needs to get over. She has a therapist and she needs to start taking treatment seriously.”
- “The people on this sub tho… they’re so harshly critical of Tammy and they don’t even know her… this sub has definitely become a snark sub and I just can’t come on here as often anymore.”
