Sister Wives Alum Maddie Brown Shares Her Faith
Maddie Brown’s family followed the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were part of a sect of the church that believed in polygamy. Maddie’s Mother was the second of four sister wives to Maddie’s father Kody Brown. Maddie’s family was highly religious and adhered to the teachings of the LDS church. Now that Maddie is on her own does she still practice the LDS religion?
Maddie Brown recently shared that she and her husband Caleb Brush do not follow the LDS teachings. A fan recently inquired what Maddie practices for her religious beliefs. She shared “We are non-denominational Christians.” But What does Maddie’s father Kody Brown think about his daughter leaving the LDS church? Kody has said that “Love should be multiplied, not divided,” and that he has a “divine calling” to polygamy. However, he is not dogmatic about his faith with his children. Kody stated:
“I wanted to advocate faith for my children, but I’ve really set it in their place to make their choices about God and religion.”
Maddie Brown Disregards Polygamy
Maddie Brown’s parents practiced polygamy. She has been asked if she too would ever practice polygamy. Brown responded “Nope! Just me and this man and that is it!” Maddie and her husband Caleb have been married since 2016. They have four children together, Axel, Evie K, Josephine, and one on the way. Brown is due to have a little girl in March 2025. Maddie’s Mother Janelle is very supportive of her daughter and her husband. She stated she is “Pretty dang excited” about the new arrival.
Despite support from her mother about her growing family, Maddie Brown Brush has had a more difficult road when it comes to her relationship with her polygamist father Kody. She has gone “No contact” with Kody. She has said, “It’s because of stuff that has happened.” Brown shared on her podcast The Authentic Society that Kody “Doesn’t have any respect for boundaries, and you have to play by his rules, and I just don’t care to do that.” Kody is not involved in the lives of his grandchildren. He has said, “It’s an unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time.” Maddie does not want her father involved regardless of her father’s views on the matter.
