‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Cancels Garth Brooks Amid Rape Lawsuit
Country singer Garth Brooks had recently been set to perform on an upcoming Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode. However, the appearance has been abruptly canceled and there are no immediate plans to reschedule. This comes out amid the singer being the subject of a recent lawsuit.
Ticket Holders Learned Of The Cancelation In An Email
Garth was expected to perform a small concert on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! set to air on November 25. The appearance was advertised for weeks prior.
The company 1iota offered tickets, allowing fans to see the performance at the show’s studio. However, the planned performance was eventually canceled days before it was set to take place.
The U.S. Sun shared a message that was emailed to those who bought tickets. As it read, “Unfortunately, the Garth Brooks Outdoor Mini-Concert at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, 11/25 has been canceled and will no longer proceed as scheduled.”
“Television production decisions can fluctuate due to a variety of reasons. We hate delivering disappointing news, and we hope you will join us in the future for another exciting fan experience.”
“Unfortunately, in the world of television, these things sometimes happen. This event will not be rescheduled.”
The Event Was Still Being Advertised Two Days Before Its Cancelation
The publication also noted that 1iota was still advertising the event two days before it was canceled. A statement on social media read: “Garth Brooks is bringing his magic to Jimmy Kimmel Live with an exclusive outdoor mini-concert! Be there as country music’s legend lights up the stage.”
At this time, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has not issued a statement concerning the cancelation. While not directly attributed to the cancelation, this comes out amid Brooks’ recent legal troubles. Back in October, the star’s former hair-and-makeup stylist filed a lawsuit against him, making allegations of rape, taking place in 2019.
For his part, Brooks has denied these allegations. In turn, he accused the alleged victim, identified as “Jane Roe,” of attempting to blackmail and extort him. He has also filed an anonymous, preemptive lawsuit back in September.
At the time, Brooks appears to still be performing for his Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. His next show is set for December 5th and is expected to take place as planned.
Notably, Brooks himself had been keeping a low profile since the lawsuit came to light since his most recent Las Vegas show. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance was set to break this trend. In early November, he also performed at the 54th Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala at Music City Center.
