Feds Raid Diddy’s Cell After Allegations Of Blackmail

Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing serious jail time for his recent legal problems. On top of the s*x trafficking and racketeering charges, he is also facing some new accusations. Prosecutors have phone call recordings that indicate that Combs has been paying other inmates to use their phone time. He then made calls allegedly blackmailing potential witnesses.

However, prosecutors might have overstepped their bounds when they raided his cell and confiscated what might be attorney-client information. Here is what you need to know.

Prosecutors Raid Diddy’s Cell To Retrieve Handwritten Notes

Prosecutors reportedly ordered a raid on Diddy’s jail cell, during which they confiscated several handwritten notes that Combs had made. The problem is that his defending attorneys say these notes include confidential attorney-client privilege notes. This could mean the prosecutors might have tainted the case.

The prosecution ordered the raid when they said they had recorded phone conversations that he illegally made. All prisoners get to make personal phone calls on a limited basis. However, the prosecution claims that Diddy was using other inmates’ phone time and had them paid for the right.

The prosecution claims the calls showed that Diddy was trying to blackmail potential witnesses. They also claim he was calling his family to get them to use his massive social media accounts to taint the jury.

Federal agents seized the papers during a raid on Diddy’s cell (via TMZ) and turned over the material to the prosecution. His defense team claims that the prosecution now possesses property protected by attorney-client privilege.

“Defense counsel has recently learned that the prosecutors are in possession of attorney client privileged material, including the defendant’s written notes,” Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said in the court hearing. “The targeted seizure of a pre-trial detainee’s work product and privileged materials – created in preparation for trial – is outrageous government conduct amounting to a substantive due process violation.”

Prosecutors Believe Diddy Is Blackmailing & Paying Witnesses

At Diddy’s last bail hearing, the prosecutors claimed that he had been trying to “corruptly influence witness testimony” through phone calls using other inmates’ accounts. He also allegedly made reported three-way calls to speak to people not allowed on his contact list.

The prosecution also claims that a birthday video his family made for him and posted on social media was done to “taint the jury” for the case. In the video, Diddy could be heard thanking his family for being supportive of him during this time.

The prosecution argued that Combs made “relentless efforts to contact potential witnesses, including victims of his abuse who could provide powerful testimony against him” (via The U.S. Sun).
