‘Survivor 47’ Expanding To Massive Two-Week Season Finale
This season, Survivor 47 is getting a supersized ending. Rather than getting the one-night, three-hour season finale we are used to, the show will have a four-hour finale stretching over two weeks. This will make the finale a two-part special, and fans will have to wait an extra week to see who wins it all.
Here is what you need to know about the upcoming two-part season finale.
Survivor 47 Having Two-Night Season Finale
Survivor 47 has made a few changes to its schedule over the years. Since Season 45, it has extended most of its episodes from 60 minutes to 90 minutes a night. It has stayed there mostly. There are a few times the show will go two hours. Now, it is extending its season finale.
The finale has always been a special three-hour episode. However, with more in-season shows going two hours, that isn’t really that big of a deal anymore. As a result, the finale this season will extend from three hours to four. Since it is four, it also won’t play out over one night anymore. Instead, the finale will be two two-hour episodes, airing over two weeks (via Entertainment Weekly).
The first part of the Survivor 47 season finale airs on CBS from 7/8c to 10/9c on December 11. The second half airs on December 18 at the same time. This also means this season will have 14 weeks, whereas it traditionally concludes after 13 weeks.
This is a huge change since every single season finale heading into this season has been a three-hour finale, going back to the very first season in 2000. The three hours always include the final voting and also the live reunion show after the decision airs for the audience.
While this season will have two episodes at two hours each, it will still be immediately followed by the after-show with Jeff Probst, the finalists, and the jury. They filmed this directly after reading the votes.
Who Will Win Survivor 47?
This season, the Survivor 47 winner is still wide open. Last week, Genevieve Mushaluk orchestrated Sol Yi’s departure. However, while Genevieve has been playing a great game this season, there are a lot of threats still there who can threaten her position.
Gabe Ortis is a major threat and seems to be leading the Tuku foursome. Teeny Chirichillo, Rachel LaMont, and Sam Phalen have all played a great game as well this season. There are also some underdogs who can pull out the win, including Andy Rueda, Caroline Vidmar, Kyle Ostwald, and Sue Smey. However, this season, fans will have to wait an extra week to learn the winner.
